Camino de Santiago 2018 - Day 1 - St Jean Pied de Port to Roncesvalles
Day 1- Our first day on the Camino de Santiago! We are walking the Camino Frances and very excited to be here in Northern Spain/ France. We started our hike in St Jean Pied de Port, France on Sunday April 1st, 2018. On our 1st day we made it to Roncesvalles, Spain. It was a grueling 24.7km hike with an pretty steep elevation gain. We were exhausted when we arrived to Roncesvalles, but it was absolutely worth it. Hope you enjoy our first day's video as much as we enjoyed hiking it.

The Way: Walking Tour of Spain
For thousands of years, pilgrims of diverse faiths from around the world have traveled a path to honor Saint James, whose remains are believed to be held at the Cathedral de Santiago.

Yellow arrows mark the way for pilgrims, who travel by foot, bicycle--even horseback, and travel an average of 12 and 15 miles each day between towns. At this rate, walking the entire 800-kilometers might take six to eight weeks. Regardless of the distance traveled, the highlight of the journey is the destination--a Pilgrim's Mass at the...
