Meopta – optika, s.r.o. – The P. Rausnitz award at the IDET trade fair 2015
The company, Meopta-optika, s.r.o., one of the most significant companies in the Czech Republic, made perhaps the most successful presentation of its latest optical technology destined for civil and military sectors.
The climax of the trade fair was the grand awards ceremony held at the Spilberk castle in the presence of top representatives of the army, the arms industry and journalists.
Paul Rausnitz was born in 1928 in Jablonec nad Nisou. He didn’t have the easiest of childhood due to his Jewish origins and he spent part of his youth in captivity during the Second World War. After the war, the Rausnitz family immigrated to America and settled in New York, where Paul and his brothers went into business in the field of glass and jewellery. After the velvet revolution of 1989, his first business venture brought him to Meopta for acquiring shares in the company in the 1990s in order to invest in new technology. In the year 2000, Paul Rausnitz paid off the basic debt of Meopta amounting to 100 million Czech Crowns, thus saving the company from impending bankruptcy.
The Meopta of today, shining in its new era, is the result of Paul´s relentless efforts for which he received a medal from the President of the Czech Republic.
The Czech-American, Paul Rausnitz, has received a number of military awards for his resistance activities and the Medal for Services to the state in the field of economy.
He saved the then failing Přerov company, Meopta, from bankruptcy in the 1990s and steered it towards stability and prosperity.
Meopta is a global manufacturer of precision optics, specializing in the design, engineering and assembly of complex optical, opto-mechanical and opto-electronic systems. Meopta creates innovative, total solutions for the consumer, industrial and military markets.

SEE MY HISTORY SITE ON FACEBOOK :
My journey from Warsaw to Cannes and back again taking in Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Slovenia, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Here I leave the garage when my car was looked at and travel to central Poland.
My channel on you tube : is one of the most prolific from Poland, although unfortunately not the most visited. With almost one film per day, one may be forgiven for thinking I do nothing else but I do have a day job as well. I have produced more than 400 original films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occassional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects
Please feel free to ask questions in the public area or to comment on things you disagree with. Sometimes there are mistakes because I speak without preparation. If I see the mistakes myself, I make this clear in the text. Please also leave a star rating!
There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!
Central and Eastern European Packaging examines the packaging industry throughout this region, but in particular in the largest regional economies which are Russia, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine and Austria. That is not to say that the other countries are forgotten, they are not, but obviously there is less going on. However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region and the sites and give a pretty good idea where future films are going to come from! Every packaging trade fair is a new excuse to make another film!
In 1997 I founded Polish Business News .There are a number of business related films here and I intend to do many more on CRM (customer relations management).
