Jost Van Dyke (sometimes colloquially referred to as JVD or Jost) is the smallest of the four main islands of the British Virgin Islands, measuring roughly 8 square kilometres (3 square miles). It rests in the northern portion of the archipelago of the Virgin Islands, located in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. Jost Van Dyke lies about 8 km (5 mi) to the northwest of Tortola and 8 km (5 mi) to the north of Saint John. Little Jost Van Dyke lies off its eastern end.
Located in nearby White Bay is the Soggy Dollar Bar, another famous beach bar on the island. It is reputedly the birthplace of the popular drink known as the Painkiller. The Soggy Dollar bar is appropriately named because when built there was neither road nor dock. (There is now a road from Belle Vue, but still no dock). To reach the beach where the bar is located, it is a common practice for boaters to anchor off the beach, swim to shore, and pay for their drinks with wet money. Today, White Bay is lined with beach bars and is a very popular stop for yachts and boaters from Tortola, St. Thomas, and St. John. Group tours from the USVI and even small cruise ships are also frequent visitors.
On the east side of Jost Van Dyke, Foxy's Taboo is a locally famous lunch restaurant, bar, and gift shop. A dock is available for day boaters. Nearby, a natural rock formation called the bubbly pool is popular attraction. It gets its name from the bubbles that form in the water when waves crash against the rocks.

We spent the day at Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands and the timing was perfect... there was a big North swell running in the Atlantic so that meant fun times at the Bubbly Pools! The water was a spectacular turquoise this week, almost electric! After fun at the Bubbly Pools we took the dinghy around to Great Harbor and met up with Foxy at his famous bar on the beach, and he even sang a couple songs for us!

Adventures in Jost Van Dyke, BVI
Yost Van Dyke is one of the smaller and least inhabited on the British Virgin Islands. It's close to St John's. I was lucky know to spend two weeks there at the White Bay Villas with my wife in Januarly 2017. To make this video I used a DJI Phantom 4, iPhone 7 plus and Xiaomi YI action camera. It was edited in iMovie. I have arial footage from White Bay as well Great Harbor. The are some flyovers of White Bay Villas and especially Sunset Villa. There is dash cam video of us driving through town and pointing out places you should know if your there for just one day or a longer stay. If your planning a visit to JVD is will help you find your way around. And a Soggy Dollar walk through right into the ocean. For anyone interested I shot most of the Drone footage in 1080p @ 60fps, the iPhone video in 1080p @ 30fps and YI action cam at 720p @ 120fps.

Crowds abound, and a full harbor of boats make this the place to be for fun in the sun every Sunday at the Soggy Dollar Bar and One Love!
