In Nigeria, a state (Hausa: jiha, Igbo: ȯra, Yoruba: ìpínlẹ̀) is a federated political entity that shares sovereignty with the federal government. There are 36 states bound together by a federal agreement. The Federal Capital Territory is not a state and under the direct control of the federal government. The states are further divided into a total of 774 Local Government Areas.[1] Under the Nigerian Constitution, states have the power to ratify constitutional amendments.

As sovereign entities, States of Nigeria have the right to organize/structure their individual governments in any way within the parameters set by the Constitution of Nigeria.
Legislature[edit]
At the State level, the legislature is unicameral, with the number of its members equal to three times the number of legislatures it has in the Federal House of Representatives. It has the power to legislate on matters on the concurrent list.
Executive[edit]
At the State level, the Head of the executive is called the Governor, who has the power to appoint people to the State Executive Council, subject to the advice and consent of the State House of Assembly (Legislature). The Head of a ministry at the State level is called a commissioner, who is assisted by a permanent secretary, who is also a senior civil servant of the State.
Judiciary[edit]
The Judiciary is one of the co-equal arms of the State government concerned with the interpretation of the laws of the State government. The Judiciary is headed by the Chief Justice of the State appointed by the governor subject to the approval of the State House of Assembly

Nigeria is overall amazing!!! The people are the friendliest people in Africa. I experienced that first hand when I visited the Plateau state, Jos. I was receive as a Son.
Jos Plateau, formerly Bauchi Plateau, tableland in Plateau State, central Nigeria, distinguished by its high bounding scarp and by bare grassland and embracing Africa’s chief tin-mining region. Its central area covers about 3,000 sq mi (8,000 sq km) and has an average elevation of 4,200 ft (1,280 m); the surrounding high plains often exceed 3,200 ft. The adjoining highland area on the east is occasionally designated the Bauchi Plateau.
The plateau has a cool rainy climate and is the source of numerous rivers, including the Kaduna, Karami, and N’gell, which feed the Niger River; the Mada, Ankwe, Dep, Shemanker, and Wase, which flow to the Benue; the Lere, Maijuju, and Bagei, which supply the Gongola; and the Kano, Delimi, Bunga, Jamaari, and Misau, which intermittently nourish Lake Chad.
Visit this wonderful city and you won't be disappointed.

Nigeria in 4 Minutes
My most recent trip back Home to Nigeria was everything I wanted it to be. I so desperately needed a break from the states to be surrounded by the love of my family and get away from the grind for a bit.
As always, I want to connect my viewers with parts of the world they've never experienced, and I especially aim to tackle the misconceptions about life in African countries. Yes, there are some people who live in traditional houses or huts. At the same time, there are also many Nigerians who live much better than many of us in the states, dwelling in solid, two-to-three story houses with one or two house helpers. Yes, it is extremely hot depending on where you are, but believe it or not, it also gets cold in certain parts of the country. Just like most countries, Nigeria encompasses both sides of any spectrum you can think of, and that's exactly what I wanted to capture with this short film.
