A cherry blossom is the flower of the cherry trees known as sakura (桜 or 櫻; さくら). In English, sakura refers to the Japanese flowering cherry, Prunus serrulata. Cherry fruit (桜んぼ, sakuranbo) comes from another species of tree.
Sakura is one of the most popular flowers in Japan! Very beautiful and peaceful flower!

Located in the northernmost part of Kumamoto Prefecture about 20 miles north of Kumamoto City and 56 miles southeast of Fukuoka City, Yamaga is a city of rich farming areas that extends across the Kikuchigawa river Basin.
The city shares its northern and northeastern border with Fukuoka Prefecture, a small part of its eastern border with Oita Prefecture, its southern border with the towns of Ueki and Gyokuto, and its western border with Izumi-machi. There is a basin in the south of the city, extending from the city centre to the south end (where the former town of Kikuka was located). The area near the prefectural border extending from the city's north to northeast contains a portion of the Kyushu Mountain Range where green mountains serve as a scenic backdrop. Some notable mountains are Himegozendake (1955 feet) sitting on the city's northern border with Fukuoka Prefecture (formerly the town of Kahoku) and Kunimiyama (3340 feet) as well as Yahougatake (3451 feet) sitting on its northeast border with Fukuoka and Oita (formerly the town of Kikuka).
The Iwano and Kamiuchida Rivers flow into the first-tier Kikuchi River, which streams westward across the city's centre. The south of the city is a flat area where farms opens up along the banks of the Kikuchi River. Yamaga's city centre is located in the south, with main streets reaching out in all directions. The business centre is located at the intersection of National Highway Route 3 (cutting through the city vertically), Route 325 (running east to west), and Route 443.
The region has cultivated a high culture of history and traditions with favourable climate, fertile soil, and a rich nature environment. There are five natural hot springs with over 1000 years of history in the urban and rural parts of the city, which are collectively called Yamaga Onsenkyo. Moreover, the ancient burial mounds scattered over the Kikuchi River basin speak to the region's prosperity during ancient times. Agriculture is the city's major industry, and melons and watermelons produced here are very famous.
Attracting nearly 300,000 visitors every year, Yamaga Tourou (Lantern Festival) is said to be one of the three biggest fire festivals in Kumamoto Prefecture. Yamaga lanterns (made using only paper and glue) and Kutami paper fans (a 400-year traditional art) are the city's very famous handicrafts.
During 2008, a total of 3,352,728 tourists (365,524 overnight visitors and 2,987,204 day-trippers) visited Yamaga City.
Yamaga City is renowned as the most abundant source of hot springs in Kumamoto Prefecture. The hot springs (called Bijin-no-yu, or Water of Beauties) contains natural alkali and has a milky feeling, attracting many visitors from Kumamoto and other prefectures. There are 40 accommodation facilities in the city.
Many visitors come to see sporting events at the Cultural Sport Center or to see kabuki, plays, and concerts at the National-Designated Important Cultural Property, Yachiyo-za Theater.
The city's biggest event is Yamaga Tourou, which attracts more than three hundred thousand people.
We live on this beautiful planet, Mother Earth, breathe the same air, and drink the same water. We are all brothers and sisters and members of the human family.
