Japan Drone Flight: Japan is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean with dense cities, imperial palaces, mountainous national parks and thousands of shrines and temples. Shinkansen bullet trains connect the main islands of Kyushu (with Okinawas subtropical beaches), Honshu (home to Tokyo and Hiroshimas atomic-bomb memorial) and Hokkaido (famous for skiing). Tokyo, the capital, is known for skyscrapers, shopping and pop culture. In contrast to Tokyo, quieter Kyoto is famous for its Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and manicured gardens. Much of Japans terrain, including the symmetrical Mt. Fuji, is volcanic. Onsen (hot springs resorts featuring mineral baths) and traditional inns called ryokan, are popular. Shops throughout Japan carry trendy fashions, kimono gowns and electronics. Typical entertainment pastimes include sumo-wrestling matches, kabuki theater productions and karaoke bars. Sushi, the national dish, is served everywhere from casual pubs to gourmet restaurants. [wikipedia // Google]

Yamagata Drone Flight: Yamagata, a prefecture on Japans Honshu Island, is known for mountains, hot springs and temples. Snow-covered conifers famously resembling snow monsters mark its Mt. Zao ski resort area, which is also the site of hot springs and hiking trails around color-shifting Okama Crater Lake. The capital, also called Yamagata, is home to the hillside Yamadera Buddhist complex, centered on 9th-century Risshaku-ji Temple. A visit to Yamadera inspired a famous haiku by Edo Period poet Basho, and nearby Yamadera Basho Memorial Museum exhibits his original works. Dating to the 6th century, the Shinto-Buddhist pilgrimage sites of Dewa Sanzan (Three Mountains of Dewa) comprise Mt. Haguro (known for its wooden Goju-to Pagoda), 1,984m Mt. Gassan and Mt. Yudono, with a shrine thats considered especially sacred. Hilltop Kaminoyama Castle in the southeastern city Kaminoyama reconstructs an Edo Period citadel. Ginzan Onsen is a hot-spring resort town with wooden ryokans (traditional inns). Mogami River boat cruises feature folk songs sung by the ferrymen. [wikipedia // Google]

Kaminoyama Onsen Yamagata - Kaminoyama Castle 上山城 and Tsukioka Hotel Ryokan
Kaminoyama Onsen is about two and a half hours from Tokyo by bullet train. We stayed at the Tsukioka Hotel, just a short walk from Kaminoyama Castle. We had a wonderful time there. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room, hot spring and food were amazing.

Travel to Japan 17: Immerse yourself within the warm hearted people of Sado Island
What can two girls do on an island in the middle of the winter?
Sado Island is really popular during the summer, and many people visit to enjoy everything this place has to offer. However, during the winter, people seem to think that there's not much to do because of the cold weather.
I've come to show that that is indeed WRONG! While it may be too cold to splash in the sea, there is still much to do. And because of lack of tourists, we were able to bond with the warm hearted and kind people of Sado. As a result, this has been one of the most memorable trips of my life, and I will never forget the endless hospitality and generosity they showered us with.
I coincidentally met an English speaking national licensed tour guide during my stay (she comes up at 5:21). She took us around the island for the last day and informed us on everything to know about Sado. If you'd like to visit Sado and would like her to guide you through the island (I definitely recommend you do) contact her at:
