Amanohashidate sandbar is an off the beaten path place you can visit when travelling to Kyoto.
Kyoto is one of the top destinations people travel to when coming to Japan, however with more and more tourists coming in each year and going to the same tourist spots, it's hard to enjoy Kyoto without having to be surrounded by crowds.
So, if you are like me and you want to enjoy travelling away from the big crowds then try going to Amanohashidate in the northern part of Kyoto.
There are trains and direct buses departing from Kyoto and Osaka and the best part is you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Japanese countryside.

BRIDGE TO HEAVEN (Amanohashidate) | Miyazu, Kyoto
Amanohashidate is a sandbar in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture. Amanohashidate roughly translates as bridge to heaven because it looks like a path connecting the land and sky when viewed upside down (hence the tradition to view it through your legs).
The south side of the sandbar has Viewland - an amusement park with some viewing platforms. The north side has Kasamatsu Park which is a more nature-y park with more viewing platforms.
It really is a beautiful place and worth a visit if in Kyoto Prefecture. It's in the town of Miyazu (which I accidentally said Amanohashidate for in the video), about 2 hours on the train north of Kyoto city.

DRIVING AROUND AMANOHASHIDATE ｜ Kinosaki Onsen Travel Guide
FIVE AUSTRALIAN DUDES DRIVE AROUND AMANOHASHIDATE WITH SIMPSONS BOOTFLAG.
After spending the night at a Ryokan in Kinosaki Onsen, we drop off our luggage at Toyo-Oka station in the lockers, and then head off towards Amanohashidate where the weather was so bad that we couldn't even bring our cameras for fear of them getting wet and utterly destroyed. And I lost the station locker key. My bad.
Also, we were wondering why so many people were looking at our car and we totally forgot we had the Simpsons Bootflag on our car. (For context:

MoJo In Japan: Miyajima and Kobe
We hit up the amazing Island of Miyajima for some luxury hotel and a Kaiseki meal then travel over to Kobe to visit the Aquarium and have some amazing Kobe Beef in Steak Land!
