Seminyak is a highlight of Bali - in this vlog we hunted out some things to do, share our hotels and an awesome restaurant ✈ Want to live in Bali?? Here's how —

Seminyak is well know for having awesome restaurants and cafes, probably more so than anywhere in Bali. It's also home to some awesome hotels and a lot of things to do. Our hotel listing is here, amazing price and location - highly recommend you stay with them in Seminyak Bali:

This was our first full day in Bali, we explored Seminyak and managed to find out what to do with a bit of a Google around - hunting out a couple of things in walking distance from our hotel.

Ended the night with an awesome experience and a local restaurant, called a Warung. As far as restaurant welcomes go this was waaaay up there! Watch and find out what happened.

Ubud is known to be one of the cultural centers of Bali island in Indonesia, and you’ll also find an abundance of delicious Balinese food to eat.

From Ubud, we first got in a taxi for a full day - 500,000 IDR ($36.76)

Lawar Sapi Men Daging Sangeh - This was a random restaurant I found on Google maps and it looked like my kind of place, and so we went to check it out. They serve beef lawar, a Balinese food mix of beef and spices. It was delicious, and made the perfect breakfast.
Price - 20,000 IDR ($1.48) per plate

Sangeh Monkey Forest
Entrance - 35,000 IDR ($2.58)

Warung Sate Babi Nyoman Bledor - Bali is known for Indonesian pork sate, and this spot is legendary. The pork sate is a little sweet, but delicious, it’s worth the effort to eat here.
Total price - 84,000 IDR ($6.20), 5 plates

Goa Gajah - Elephant Cave - The Elephant Cave is one of the most well known Bali attractions, and well worth a visit when you’re in Bali.
Entrance - 15,000 IDR ($1.11)

Warung Makan Teges - This local Indonesian restaurant serves nasi campur, a mix of different dishes all over rice. The food is very tasty and to me it tasted good quality.
Price - 30,000 IDR ($2.21) per plate

Nasi Ayam Kadewatan Bu Mangku - Finally to finish off this Balinese Indonesian food tour, we at Bali chicken rice mix, includes all sorts of delicious goodies over rice.
Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.84) per plate

Island of the Gods

The rich and diverse culture of Bali plays out at all levels of life, from the exquisite flower-petal offerings placed everywhere, to the processions of joyfully garbed locals, shutting down major roads as they march to one of the myriad temple ceremonies, to the otherworldly traditional music and dance performed island-wide. Almost everything has spiritual meaning. The middle of Bali is dominated by the dramatic volcanoes of the central mountains and hillside temples such as Pura Luhur Batukau (one of the island's estimated 10,000 temples), while the tallest peak, Gunung Agung, is the island's spiritual centre.

One Island, Many Destinations

On Bali you can lose yourself in the chaos of Kuta or the sybaritic pleasures of Seminyak and Kerobokan, surf wild beaches in the south or just hang out on Nusa Lembongan. You can go family-friendly in Sanur or savour a lavish getaway on the Bukit Peninsula. Ubud is the heart of Bali, a place where the culture of the island is most accessible, and it shares the island's most beautiful rice fields and ancient monuments with east and west Bali.

Bali's Essence

Yes, Bali has beaches, surfing, diving, and resorts great and small, but it's the essence of Bali – and the Balinese – that makes it so much more than just a fun-in-the-sun retreat. It is possible to take the cliché of the smiling Balinese too far, but in reality, the inhabitants of this small island are indeed a generous, genuinely warm people. There's also a fun, sly sense of humour. Upon seeing a bald tourist, many locals exclaim 'bung ujan', which means today's rain is cancelled – it's their way of saying that the hairless head is like a clear sky.

At the end of the day (which is the start of the day for some visitors), Bali's rich culture, many amazing sights and truly lovely people are what takes Bali's sheer delight to another level. Because Bali is fun, no matter what you want or who you are. Seminyak has shops and designers, Kerobokan has luxe beachside resorts and superb eating, Kuta and Legian have the nightlife, and Canggu wraps it all into one irresistible package. Plunge deep into Bali's spirit while renewing your own in Ubud or catching the perfect wave in Bingin.

Bali (Balinese: Indonesian: Pulau Bali, Provinsi Bali) is an island and province of Indonesia. The province includes the island of Bali and a few smaller neighbouring islands, notably Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. It is located at the westernmost end of the Lesser Sunda Islands, between Java to the west and Lombok to the east. Its capital, Denpasar, is located in the southern part of the island.

Bali is part of the Coral Triangle, the area with the highest biodiversity of marine species. In this area alone over 500 reef building coral species can be found. For comparison, this is about 7 times as many as in the entire Caribbean.
