This is Glyfada (Glifadga) in Athens, Greece
Glyfada (Greek: Γλυφάδα, pronounced [ɣliˈfaða]) is a suburb of Athens, situated in the southern parts of the Athens Metropolitan Area. The area, which is home to many of Greece's millionaires, ministers and celebrities, stretches from the foot of the Hymettus mountain to the Saronic Gulf. It is the largest of Athens' southern suburbs. This fashion-conscious suburb is known in Greece for its upmarket cafes, well-known restaurants, boutiques and cosmopolitan summer clubs; Glyfada has also been called Knightsbridge-on-Sea,Hellenic Hamptons, or the Beverly Hills of Greece.
In ancient times, the area was a deme known as Aixone (Αἰξωνή). Today, Glyfada is packed with some of the capital's best-known nightclubs, upscale restaurants and shops. It could be argued to be one of the most Americanized of Athenian municipalities, since an American airbase was located nearby until the early 1990s. The base's population contributed in part to Glyfada's character, leading to a unique blend of Greek and American atmosphere and cuisine. Although the base is now gone and the school relocated, Glyfada still retains part of its American flavour while continuing to offer distinctly Greek cuisine, entertainment and nightlife.
Glyfada was established as the heart of Athens' southern suburbs, because of its prime waterfront location, rich commercial centre, and modern business district. It has been described as the headpoint of the 'Athens Riviera' and features some of Europe's most opulent seafront residences, gardens and extensive beachfront property, with a modern marina.
The town hall is located at the center of the municipality; nearby, Glyfada’s shopping district has one of the most vibrant and diversified commercial centres of Athens' neighbourhoods, with a collection ranging across specialist and designer boutiques. Its proximity to a succession of beaches and a concentrated seaside club scene also greatly increases the number of visitors during the summer months. The area’s shopping district runs across Metaxa Avenue and Grigoriou Labraki Street while both the offices of major businesses and shopping areas also dot the Avenues Voyliagmenis, Goynari and Gennimata.
At the beginning of the 20th century the town had already changed its name to Glyfada, a name given because of the presence of salt-water wells typical of this area.
Glyfáda (kreik. Γλυφάδα) on Kreikan kaupunki ja samanniminen kunta (Δήμος Γλυφάδας, Dímos Glyfádas), joka sijaitsee Etelä-Ateenan alueyksikössä Attikan alueella ja kuuluu Ateenan metropolialueeseen. Kaupungin ja kunnan pinta-ala on 25,366 neliökilometriä ja väkiluku 87 305 (vuonna 2011).

Athens (/ˈæθɨnz/ Modern Greek: Αθήνα, Athína, [aˈθina]; Ancient Greek: Ἀθῆναι, Athēnai) is the capital and largest city of Greece. Athens dominates the Attica region and is one of the world's oldest cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years. Classical Athens, as a landlocked location was a powerful city-state that emerged in conjunction with the seagoing development of the port of Piraeus. A centre for the arts, learning and philosophy, home of Plato's Academy and Aristotle's Lyceum,it is widely referred to as the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy,largely due to the impact of its cultural and political achievements during the 5th and 4th centuries BC on the rest of the then known European continent.Today a cosmopolitan metropolis, modern Athens is central to economic, financial, industrial, political and cultural life in Greece. In 2012, Athens was ranked the world's 39th richest city by purchasing power and the 77th most expensive in a UBS study.
The city of Athens has a population of 664,046 (796,442 in 2004)within its administrative limits and a land area of 39 km2 (15 sq mi).The urban area of Athens (Greater Athens and Greater Piraeus) extends beyond the administrative municipal city limits, with a population of 3,074,160 (in 2011), over an area of 412 km2 (159 sq mi). According to Eurostat, the Athens Larger Urban Zone (LUZ) is the 7th most populous LUZ in the European Union (the 5th most populous capital city of the EU), with a population of 4,013,368 (in 2004). Athens is also the southernmost capital on the European mainland.
The heritage of the classical era is still evident in the city, represented by ancient monuments and works of art, the most famous of all being the Parthenon, considered a key landmark of early Western civilization. The city also retains Roman and Byzantine monuments, as well as a smaller number of Ottoman monuments.
Athens is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Acropolis of Athens and the medieval Daphni Monastery. Landmarks of the modern era, dating back to the establishment of Athens as the capital of the independent Greek state in 1834, include the Hellenic Parliament (19th century) and the Athens Trilogy, consisting of the National Library of Greece, the Athens University and the Academy of Athens. Athens was the host city of the first modern-day Olympic Games in 1896, and 108 years later it welcomed home the 2004 Summer Olympics.[13] Athens is home to the National Archeological Museum, featuring the world's largest collection of ancient Greek antiquities, as well as the new Acropolis Museum.

Ο Λάκης Γαβαλάς ήταν για πάνω απο μια δεκαετία ένας από τους πιο επιτυχημένους εισαγωγείς επώνυμων ρούχων και υποδημάτων στην Ελλάδα. Ο εκκεντρικός επιχειρηματίας στο διαστημα που δραστηριοποιούταν έκανε τις δραστηριότητές του συνώνυμες με την τελευταία λέξη της μόδας, εκπροσωπώντας στην Ελλάδα πάνω από 60 λαμπερές μάρκες.
Ο Λάκης Γαβαλάς γεννήθηκε και µεγάλωσε στον Πειραιά. Τέλειωσε την Ελληνογαλλική Σχολή St. Paul και, στα 20 χρόνια του, πήγε στην Ιταλία για σπουδές χορού. Εκεί, συνεργάστηκε µε την ιταλική τηλεόραση Rai και γνώρισε πολλούς σχεδιαστές και επώνυµους της εποχής.
Παρά το γεγονός ότι παρακολούθησε κάποια μαθήματα µόδας, το σχέδιο δεν ήταν η πρώτη επιλογή του. Επιστρέφοντας στην Ελλάδα, αποφάσισε να ασχοληθεί επιχειρηματικά µε τη µόδα, εκπροσωπώντας ξένους οίκους, σε µια εποχή όπου αυτό το σκεπτικό ήταν εντελώς άγνωστο στην ελληνική αγορά.
Στα τέλη του 2010 άρχισαν να εμφανίζονται τα πρώτα σύννεφα στην επιχειρηματική δραστηριότητα του Λάκη Γαβαλά.
Τόσο η κακή διαχείριση των οικονομικών θεμάτων από αρμόδια στελέχη της εταιρείας του κ. Γαβαλά, όσο και η μεγάλη κάμψη των λιανικών πωλήσεων ήταν δύο από τους βασικούς λόγους που έφεραν αυτή την αρνητική εξέλιξη.
Φίλοι και ανταγωνιστές αναγνωρίζουν στον επιχειρηματία Λάκη Γαβαλά την ευρηματικότατα, την προσήλωση στην ποιότητα, αλλά και την ακλόνητη επιλογή του για ελληνικά υφάσματα και πρώτες ύλες στις σειρές ρούχων που έφεραν την υπογραφή του, έστω και αν του κόστιζαν περισσότερα χρήματα από το να ράψει σε Βαλκανικές χώρες.
Το 2010 ξεκίνησαν τα προβλήματα. Ο Λάκης Γαβαλάς φυλακίστηκε και το τότε νεόδμητο αρχιτεκτονικό του αριστούργημα που ξεπερνά ακόμα και στης μέρες μας τα στενά Ελληνικά δεδομένα στην Κάντζα σφραγίστηκε .
Ένα κτίριο περίπου 20.000 τ.μ., που προοριζόταν να γίνει η Μέκκα της Ελληνικής και όχι μόνο fashion showbiz στέγαζε στις πολύ μοντέρνες εγκαταστάσεις του μεγάλο αριθμό υπαλλήλων, οι οποίοι εργάζονταν στις καλύτερες συνθήκες και με αρκετά καλά χρήματα. Σήμερα, τίποτε δεν θυμίζει τις καλές μέρες, με τα χαμόγελα και τις φωνές που ακούγονταν καθημερινά. Πλέον, το κτίριο είναι μουντό, σκοτεινό, με αντικείμενα που θυμίζουν την εποχή της άνθησης της επιχείρησης την εποχή που όπως λέγεται έδεναν τα σκυλιά με τα λουκάνικα.
ΟΙ ΧΩΡΟΙ
Τεράστια γραφεία, κουζίνα, αίθουσες για ψυχαναλυτές, ιατρείο και πολλά ακόμα είναι όλα όσα περιλαμβάνει το επιβλητικό γκρι κτίριο, για το οποίο ο Λάκης Γαβαλάς έχει να πει πολλά, μιας και ήταν μία από τις μεγαλύτερες επενδύσεις του. «Δεν ξέρω αν τελικά έκανα καλά που χωρίς κανένα πολιτικό δόγμα έφτιαξα έναν χώρο που μόνο κάποιος που έχει στα εσώψυχά του κάτι από κομμουνισμό ή αριστερή φιλοσοφία θα μπορούσε να κάνει. Αν και ήδη είχα ένα κτίριο στην Κηφισίας, με πολύ καλή πελατεία, ουσιαστικά το έκανα για να φιλοξενήσω 300 άτομα προσωπικό. Θέλησα να κάνω ένα άνοιγμα βασιζόμενος στα όσα μας υπόσχονταν οι τότε κυβερνήσεις…», εξομολογείται ο ίδιος.

Athens was voted as the third best European city to visit in 2015 by European Best Destination. More than 240,000 people voted.
Athens is home to 148 theatrical stages, more than any other city in the world, including the ancient Odeon of Herodes Atticus, home to the Athens Festival, which runs from May to October each year. In addition to a large number of multiplexes, Athens plays host to open air garden cinemas. The city also supports music venues, including the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Moussikis), which attracts world class artists. The Athens Planetarium, located in Andrea Syngrou Avenue, is one of the largest and best equipped digital planetaria in the world. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, inaugurated in 2016, will house the National Library of Greece and the Greek National Opera.
