Wild Atlantic Way Road Trip Vlog Series - Trying an Irish Seaweed Bath
In this episode we continue our adventure exploring the best that Ireland has to offer and our journey along the Wild Atlantic Way in our campervan - Trudy.
We drive back from Belfast and arrive in the town of Spiddal before driving North and arriving in the town of Leenaun. As we have toured the Wild Atlantic Way and when asking locals what are the top things to do in Ireland or what are the things we should try - many people have told us that you must try a seaweed bath.
In the coastal village of Leenaun, on the Wild Atlantic Way, is the Connemara Seaweed baths so we decided to book a spot. With our tight budget only one of us could do it and so it ended up being me (Chris) .
It was a wonderful and relaxing experience. A bath up is filled with locally sourced seaweed then half filled with very hot water. Whilst the hot water is extracting all the goodness from the seaweed you spend 10 minutes relaxing in a steam room. You then add cold water to get the bath to your ideal temperature before submerging yourself, closing your eyes and relaxing. As you relax recordings of waves help you to relax.
It was a wonderful experience and then at the end you stand under a cold shower, which was a bit like the ice bucket challenge , much to Marianne's amusement !
The Wild Atlantic Way is one of the longest designated coastal road trips in the world at over 2,500 km long. Our road trip of the Wild Atlantic Way started at the most Northern Point of Ireland - Malin Head and finished all the way at the bottom in the town of Kinsale.
The Wild Atlantic way is a road trip of a lifetime and that’s why we just had to do it and produce a travel series of vlogs of our experiences along this magical road. We saw beautiful and dramatic cliffs, stunning beaches, the best sunsets, met lots of lovely people, sung at a shanty festival and saw Ireland at it’s best. If you come to Ireland you must visit the Wild Atlantic Way - even if you can’t do the complete road trip just go and do part of it - absolutely awesome and what a road trip to start off our never ending journey around the Globe.

in may 2013 we visited Dublin the heart of Ireland. With Airlink Express Bus from Airport to hotel and 2 day Hop-on Hop-off Tour we explored perfect the history and culture, Top Highlights how Temple Bar, Liffey River, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College, St. Stephen's Green, Museum of Modern Arts , Dublinia and Old Jameson Distillery was very easy to arrive, enjoy the scenes from old & new Dublin !
Auf einer viertägigen Städtereise besuchten wir im Mai 2013 Dublin, die Hauptstadt von Irland. Die touristischen Angebote, die Stadt zu erkunden haben unsere Erwartungen weit übertroffen. So kamen wir direkt vom Flughafen mit dem Airlink Express Bus auch spät am Abend problemlos bis fast direkt zu unserem gebuchten Stadthotel. Mit dem Hop-on Hop-Off Bus erkundeten wir dann zwei Tage lang die schönsten Sehenswürdigkeiten (siehe oben). Doch Dublin hat viele Gesichter und ich habe versucht sie in viele kleine Szenen zu verpacken, als Erinnerung oder vielleicht auch als Insperation zum Nachmachen, viel Spass beim Anschauen !

Summer Holidays In Dublin (1 Of 3)
This summer for the second consecutive year we have managed to return to Dublin again.
We have done all the typical things. We have gone to St. Stephen's green, walked down O'Connell st. and Grafton street, played pitch & putt, watched rugby and hurley matches, travelled down and up to Howth and Bray, visited Guinness storehouse and Christh Church Cathedral, bought souvenirs in Carrolls and Dunnes Stores, clothes in Arnotts, books in Hodges and Figgis and of course... we went for a couple of pints in Temple Bar.
Once more we had a georgeous time in Dublin. It has been a pleasure to remember the rare auld times and of course to see again our Irish family.
Thanks again for keeping in touch and for your hospitality and friendship.

Here's beautiful Bundoran, in Donegal on the North West coast of Ireland. Bundoran is a seaside resort on the Atlantic and the surf is pretty good there.
We caught these surfers one very fine day at the end of May 2009.

Bundoran - The Peak
Bundoran, County Donegal
Bundoran is the surf capital of Ireland, a small seaside town with a number of good breaks within easy walking distance from the town and the holiday accommodation making Bundoran a perfect place for surfing holiday.
The Peak is legendary wave a long V-shaped reef which juts out into the middle of the bay facing west-north-west and offers a short hollow right, and a long bashable left. It works well off a west to southwest swells and can hold waves up to 10 feet. Best two hours either side of low tide. It's one the most perfect waves in Europe and is ridable on most wind directions. Gets crowded, but nothing like as crowded as, say, Croyde or Fistral even on a good day. Not a wave for beginners; expect to get a thrashing if you get it wrong. Show respect to the locals and be friendly and you'll be treated to some of the legendary Irish hospitality.
3-D is a short hollow right-hander between The Peak and the beach which works from mid- to high-tide. It has a tendency to suck dry, so is probably best left to the small number of locals and bodyboarders who ride it. It works up to about six feet.
To the north is Tullan Strand which is a long beach with peaky lefts and rights. Tullan always has a wave of some sorts and is rarely flat.
