Lahinch Beach, County Clare, Ireland
Lahinch or Lehinch , meaning The Memorial cairn of O'Connor) is a small town on Liscannor Bay, on the northwest coast of County Clare, Ireland. It lies on the N67 national secondary road, between Milltown Malbay and Ennistymon, roughly 75 kilometres (47 mi) by road southwest of Galway and 68 kilometres (42 mi) northwest of Limerick.[1] The town is a seaside resort and is home to the Lahinch Golf Club. It has become a popular surfing location. The town was recorded by the Annals of the Four Masters as Leith Innse,[4] which is a variant of the Irish word for a peninsula leithinis (half island), which describes the village's location between the Inagh River and the sea.[5] The town today is mostly spelled Lahinch, but some road signs in the area use the spelling Lehinch.

Ancient Magical Ireland the West Coast
May I invite you on a journey to this ancient and magical part of Ireland. Our journey starts in Limerick with King's John castle and then to one of the greatest tourist attractions of Ireland the cliffs of Moher, with an amazing birds 'apartment'.
By boat we cross then to Inisheer the smallest and most eastern of the three Aran Islands in Galway Bay. Back to the Burren one of the largest karst landscapes in Europe. There we visit the ancient and magical Poulanabrone tomb. I felt like being in another dimension. Very special ancient place.
Then to Killaloe, beautiful situated along the Shannon river with the old St Flannan's Cathedral.
Another ancient and magical place is Lough Gur. Humans have lived near Lough Gur since 3000 BC and there are numerous megalithic remains there. It is one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites.
Around this lake is the largest standing stone circle in Ireland, 45 m in diameter and enclosed by 113 standing stones. The stone circle is aligned with the rising sun at the Summer Solstice.
Then to Clonmacnoise. The strategic location of the monastery of Clonmacnoise helped it become a major centre of religion, learning, craftsmanship, and trade by the 9th century.
We end our journey with Birr castle. In the early 1840's, the Third Earl of Rosse designed and built the largest telescope in the world. With this telescope, he discovered the spiral nature of some of the galaxies with has been a major breakthrough in our understanding of the universe. Suddenly our vision of the universe became so much larger. These kind of paradigm shifts has always influenced humanity on a large scale.
With thanks to my dear friend Emma Jervis for showing me around.

The Town of Ennis (First Day in Ireland)
After getting off the plane and picking up the car, we headed to some town we didn't see too much to do in, then headed over to Ennis which was a GREAT place to shop and stay. Found the Temple Gate Hotel to stay in for the night (no air-conditioning or fans). It sits on the site of an old convent (ha ha, closest I'll ever get into one or would want to) and their food was just great. My friend and neighbor ordered fresh mussels and they brought a HUGE pot of them out for about 7 Euros. She was thrilled! The pictures with the pretty ceiling and architecture was the dining/pub. We ate at this one place the next day that had 1/4 natural Irish beef burgers. My friend eats meat so she thought it sounded great. We know what a quarter pound burger is here, so we had a good laugh when the meat was only the size of a quarter! The bun was huge all around it. Not worth 8 Euros!
