Tourists also visit Salzburg to tour the historic centre and the scenic Alpine surroundings. Salzburg was the birthplace of 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the mid‑20th century, the city was the setting for the musical play and film The Sound of Music.

Salzburg Cathedral is the seventeenth-century Baroque cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salzburg in the city of Salzburg, Austria, dedicated to Saint Rupert and Saint Vergilius. Saint Rupert founded the church in 774 on the remnants of a Roman town, the cathedral was rebuilt in 1181 after a fire. In the seventeenth century, the cathedral was completely rebuilt in the Baroque style under Prince-Bishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau to its present appearance. Salzburg Cathedral still contains the baptismal font in which composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized.

Hellbrunn was only meant for use as a day residence in summer, as the Archbishop usually returned to Salzburg in the evening; therefore, there is no bedroom in Hellbrunn.

Wanderbares Österreich; von Kirchberg bei Kitzbühel führt ein Weg an Aschau vorbei in ein Hochtal, das nach Süden in 2000 Metern Höhe sein Ende findet. Der Weg führt vorbei am Großen Rettenstein (2340), der einer der höchsten Berge der Kitzbühler Alpen ist.
Ideal zum Wandern, Radfahren, Schiefahren.
( Die hohen Tauern liegen etwas weiter im Süden).-
Dies ist die s.g. Grauwackenzone, eine paläozoische weiche Gesteinsschicht ( älteste der drei Erdzeitalter - ca.vor
541 Millionen J. - Entwicklung aller auch heute noch existierenden Formen des Tierreichs. Die Erde bestand noch aus einem einzigen Superkontinent); diese machte rundköpfige Gebirgsformationen, mit manchen Kalkspitzen darauf: siehe Rettenstein.
