Speaker Biography: Madeleine Albright served from 1997 until 2001 as the first woman secretary of state. She was born in the former Czechoslovakia, and her family immigrated to the United States in 1948. She followed in her father's footsteps by also becoming a diplomat. Prior to being secretary of state, she was U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. She is the author of several books, including her newest: Fascism: A Warning (HarperCollins).

Is America Too Big?
Is America too big for democracy? Too big for its traditional republican form? What does it mean if the answer is yes? This video series proposes that the source of our biggest social and political problems is our SIZE.
Like the, obese, 600 pound man who experiences heart failure, diabetes, and dozens of other ailments, so too does America, only its diseases go by the names Debt, War, Entitlements, Gridlock, and Corruption. Our problems cannot be fixed through any change in ideology or bi-partisan agreement in Congress, because those are not the root of our problems. The source is our size. As America's population increases, the level of representation and control each voter has must inexorably decrease. As power centralizes in a federal government, literally out of the hands of its citizens, conflicts and problems mount. What can be done? Please watch and join the conversation.
2018 Spring Commencement
The 2018 Spring Commencement is the largest in TROY’s history. Nearly 950 graduates representing 26 U.S. states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, and 10 countries outside the U.S. earned degrees. The keynote speaker was Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.
Robert the Bruce, a Spider and a Cave
Robert the Bruce is said to have hidden in this cave in 1306 for several months and the struggle by a spider to build its web inspired Robert to assemble his army again and defeat the English at Bannockburn.
The cave may also have been a hermitage and a place to hide valuables during border raids or war. It is mostly man made and until the 1920s could only be reached by a rope. Dunskellie Castle once stood nearby. An 1835sh inscription is carved above the entrance. A star shaped carving and a coat of arms are carved upon the rock face nearby and a bench is carved below at river level.
