Florianópolis, the capital of southern Brazil’s Santa Catarina state, is made up mostly of 54km-long Santa Catarina Island. It's famous for its beaches, including popular resort areas such as Praia dos Ingleses at the island's northern tip.
Its Lagoa da Conceição, a saltwater lagoon, is popular for windsurfing and boating. The Pedro Ivo Campos Bridge connects the island to a mainland commercial district.

Vlog: Staying At The Lake (Lagoa da Conceição) in Florianópolis, Brazil
This was our first day in Lagoa da Conceição, one of the most popular areas on the island of Florianópolis, Brazil. Florianópolis is the capital of Santa Catarina, a southern state of Brazil, and is home to over 40 incredible beaches.
During the winter Florianópolis can get really cold but in the summer months it's amazing, attracting a large amount of tourism on the island. If it's good cafés and restaurants, quirky shops and buzzing nightlife you're looking for, Lagoa da Conceição is for you.
We stayed 15 minutes walk away from the town centre at a lakeside hotel called Hotel Saint Germain. There are guesthouses and pousadas in town as well.

Florianópolis, the capital of southern Brazil’s Santa Catarina state, is made up mostly of 54km-long Santa Catarina Island. It's famous for its beaches, including popular resort areas such as Praia dos Ingleses at the island's northern tip. Its Lagoa da Conceição, a saltwater lagoon, is popular for windsurfing and boating. The Pedro Ivo Campos Bridge connects the island to a mainland commercial district.Santa Catarina’s Atlantic-facing east coast has long sandy beaches like Praia da Joaquina, renowned for surfing as well as sandboarding on towering dunes. Pastel buildings fill the historic city center, including the 19th-century public market, with restaurants and food stalls. Nearby, the Museu Histórico de Santa Catarina is set in a former colonial governor’s palace. On the sheltered west coast is Ribeirão da Ilha, a fishing village known for its oysters and traditional Azorean homes. The southern tier forms part of the Serra do Tabuleiro State Park, with hiking trails through rainforest-covered hills.
Weather and Events:
Beach season peaks Dec–Feb, when the weather is hot and humid. Resorts like Praia dos Ingleses are busy, and surf's up on Santa Catarina island's quieter, Atlantic-facing beaches. Fewer visit in winter (Jun–Sep), when temperatures are cooler and rain is less frequent. Major events include Carnaval (dates vary, Feb/Mar), the Catholic celebrations of Festas Juninas (Jun) and the gastronomic festival Fenaostra (Oct).

Brazil Travels: Florianopolis - DJI Phantom Drone GoPro [Part 1]
[Part 1] We made it to Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. This was the first of 3 stops in Brazil. Brazil is the homeland of my girlfriend Charity and I couldn't wait for her to show me where she grew up.
Florianópolis is known for its beautiful beaches, nightlife and surf, exactly what I needed.
We booked an awesome cabin in the the woods that belongs to pro surfer Marco Polo Soares. Marco Polo went above and beyond, picking us up from the airport, taking us to the coolest surf spots and was overall an exceptional host (info below).
The cabin was located in Lagoa da Conceição, it was in opinion the best area to call home while in Floripa as its centrally located offering a lively downtown and located extremely close to some of the best beaches on the island such as Mole beach, Joaquina beach and Barra da Lagoa.

Finding the Sand Dunes and Best Beaches in Florianópolis, Brazil!
We had one day left in Florianópolis, Brazil and we still had so much to see! So what did we do? Well, we asked our taxi driver to give us a tour around the island, of course. In this vlog we found the incredible Joaquina sand dunes, Praia da Joaquina, Lagoa da Conceição viewpoint, Barra da Lagoa, Prainha da Barra and the most delish seafood restaurant. Florianopolis Brazil | 80+ Countries w/3 kids
Vacationing in Florianopolis is a unique experience. Located in the south of the country - only ninety minutes’ flight from Rio - sunbathers, surfers and nature lovers can all find their perfect slice of soft sand and clear waters. Florianopolis, or Floripa as it is affectionately known by locals, can be described as a great place to go with friends, family or as a couple. It is the capital of Santa Catarina, one of the richest per capita states in Brazil and it has been known as a wonderful vacation destination thanks to its combination of incredible beaches, good weather, amazing nightlife and friendly locals.
You shouldn’t worry about the safety in Floripa, it is blessed with an organized and safe urban environment, which explains why for several years in a row now it has been named as the city with the best quality of life in Brazil!
