Many of my friends were asking for a Spiti valley Itinerary and here i am posting a best route plan for Spiti valley.
The Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name Spiti means The Middle Land, i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
The town of Kaza, Kaze or Kaja is the subdivisional headquarters of the remote Spiti Valley in the Lahaul and Spiti district of the state of Himachal Pradesh in the Western Himalayas of India.
Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. It’s also known for the handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specializing in wooden toys and crafts.
Nako Lake is a high altitude lake in the Pooh sub-division of the Kinnaur district. It forms part of the boundary of Nako village and seems that the village is half buried in the lake's border. It is about 3,662 metres above sea level.
Kalpa is a small town in the Sutlej river valley, above Recong Peo in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, Northern India, in the Indian Himalaya. Inhabited by Kinnauri people and famous for its apple orchards.

Delhi – Shimla – Kaza (791 KMs) AND Delhi – Manali – Kaza (772 KMs) is just mere 19 KMs. However, you can reach Manali that is 570 KMs of drive within a day or about 12 Hrs journey from Delhi due to mostly excellent and wide roads leading to it. Next day, remaining 202 KMs can be done to reach Kaza by evening. However, as discussed in previous article you have to brave the AMS as the altitude difference is abrupt while we travel this route as apparent in graphs below. But, if you are short on number of days and road to Spiti Valley from Manali is open, better run through it to save a day for you and also fatigue levels. You can always descend to Tabo to control the AMS by starting 2 Hrs early from Manali.

Travellers can reach Spiti Valley via two routes: (1.) via Manali (2.) via Shimla. Buses are available everyday from New Delhi to Manali and Shimla. You can hire a taxi or go on a self-driven exploration from Manali and Shimla to Spiti.
