Narrator: Welcome to the wonderful City Wonders tour. We're here for a full day tour to go see Lago di Como, Bellagio, and then we're going to make our way into another country. We also do this incredible two hour cruise. We get to have a wonderful view of all of the beautiful villas that are along the lake. And get a peek at some of the incredibly famous celebrities that live around here, hopefully. We know that George Clooney has his house here. We also have Richard Branson of the Virgin Enterprises here, and you can also have a peek at some incredible settings for movies. Of course, my favorite stop on the entire tour is Bellagio. Bellagio truly is the pearl of Lago di Como where we have incredible romantic streets, beautiful little stores to peek in and, of course, restaurants with incredible views.
So welcome to Lugano in Switzerland, our second stop. So one wonderful thing about Switzerland is it has some of the best chocolate in the world, and I bet you didn't know that the invention of milk chocolate was actually something that happened here in Switzerland in 1875.
Female: I really enjoyed today because we got to see two countries and two lakes in one day. I think it was an amazing experience, and we had headsets so you can hear your guide at all times. I would definitely rate this City Wonders tour five stars out of five.

Driving at STELVIO PASS, world's greatest driving road - Italy
Any petrol-head or motoring fan will be well aware of the famous alpine roads known as Stelvio Pass. Tackling them is sure to be on their bucket list. Here’s our recording from that trip.
The pass is located in the Ortler Alps in Italy between Stilfs (Stelvio in Italian) in South Tyrol and Bormio in the province of Sondrio. It is about 75 km (47 mi) from Bolzano and a mere 200 m from the Swiss border.
Stelvio Pass is built between 1820-25 by the Austrian Empire to open trade opportunities, the road has had historic significance. Seen as the border between Austro-Hungarian and Italian forces in World War I, many lives were lost here. Be sure to check out the memorial to pay your respects to those that fought in the world’s highest battle of WWI. This road became incredibly popular following it’s branding of “the greatest driving road in the world” back in 2008 by the Top Gear team. Since then, it’s lost the title, but it’s popularity hasn’t decreased.
Stelvio Pass is open between May and November when the roads are clear of snow. A late opening or early closure can be possible dependent on snowfall. Peak traffic hits the road in high tourist season between July and August. If you’re going for the drive, avoid these months. The views of course are stunning year round. Consisting of 48 hairpin bends on its northern side, many drivers see the road as a beast to be tamed at least once in their lives. Some even make a yearly pilgrimage. As it’s the highest paved mountain pass in the eastern alps with an average gradient of 7.6%, extreme caution must be exercised. Much of the road is narrow so high speeds and overtaking are impossible. Patience in your hire car is a necessity for your visit! Pause to take in the scenery or for photos where you can.
Isola Bella (Lago Maggiore) the Beautiful Borromean Islands of north Italy
Isola Bella (Lago Maggiore) the Beautiful Borromean Islands of north Italy.
Isola Bella (lit. 'beautiful island') is one of the Borromean Islands of Lago Maggiore in north Italy. The island is situated in the Borromean Gulf 400 metres from the lakeside town of Stresa. Isola Bella is 320 metres long by 400 metres wide and is divided between the Palace, its Italianate garden, and a small fishing village.
Until 1632 the island—known only as l’isola inferiore or isola di sotto[1]—was a rocky crag occupied by a tiny fishing village: but that year Carlo III of the influential House of Borromeo began the construction of a palazzo dedicated to his wife, Isabella D'Adda, from whom the island takes its name. He entrusted the works to the Milanese Angelo Crivelli, who was also to be responsible for the planning the gardens. The works were interrupted around middle of the century when the Duchy of Milan was struck by a devastating outbreak of the plague.
Construction resumed when the island passed to Carlo’s sons, Cardinal Giberto III (1615–1672) and Vitaliano VI (1620–1690); the latter in particular, with the financial backing of his elder brother, entrusted the completion of the works to the Milanese architect Carlo Fontana and turned the villa into a place of sumptuous parties and theatrical events for the nobility of Europe.
The completion of the gardens, however, was left to his nephew Carlo IV (1657–1734). They were inaugurated in 1671.
The island achieved its highest level of social success during the period of Giberto V Borromeo (1751–1837) when guests included Edward Gibbon, Napoleon and his wife Joséphine de Beauharnais, and Caroline of Brunswick, the Princess of Wales. It is said that Caroline, having fallen in love with the place, did her best to convince the Borromeo family to sell her Isola Madre or the Castelli di Cannero islands; her request being turned down, she established herself on the banks of Lake Como at Cernobbio in the Villa d’Este.
A conference of high representatives of Italy, France and the United Kingdom was held in the palace at Isola Bella in April 1935, resulting in the agreement known as the Stresa Front.
Isola Bella is a popular tourist attraction, with a regular ferry service from Stresa, Laveno, Pallanza and Intra. It plays host to the annual Stresa music festival.

Piazza della Signora Florence Italy
Piazza della Signoria is an L-shaped square in front of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy. It was named after the Palazzo della Signoria, also called Palazzo Vecchio. It is the focal point of the origin and of the history of the Florentine Republic and still maintains its reputation as the political hub of the city. It is the meeting place of Florentines as well as the numerous tourists, located near Ponte Vecchio and Piazza del Duomo and gateway to Uffizi Gallery. The impressive 14th-century Palazzo Vecchio is still preeminent with its crenellated tower. The square is also shared with the Loggia della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, the Palace of the Tribunale della Mercanzia (1359) (now the Bureau of Agriculture), and the Palazzo Uguccioni (1550, with a facade attributed to Raphael, who however died thirty years before its construction). Located in front of the Palazzo Vecchio is the Palace of the Assicurazioni Generali (1871, built in Renaissance style).
