Morigerati is an ancient village perched on a promontory at 268 meters above sea level. Orange flag of the Touring Club, Morigerati is one of the most successful ecotourism experiments in Campania. The village was one of the first in the region to bet on widespread hospitality, with over 30 houses open to tourists and a single reservation center. We also book donkey tours, guided trekking and mountain biking. The Mediterranean diet is at home and the traditions of the peasant civilization still continue unchanged. Here the time passes slowly and everything revolves around the naturalistic oasis downstream of the inhabited center.
The Grotte del Bussento Oasis, established in 1985, is the most important conservation project of WWF Italy and is included in the list of world Geoparks. Equal to 607 hectares, the Oasis is located within a Site of Community Importance and is enhanced by the Parco del Cilento as part of itinerary No. 15. A very precious heritage of biodiversity and a bulwark to defend the territory, the Morigerati protected area attracts thousands of tourists every year.
Get off in the valley of the river Bussento is an experience of great impact.
The WWF visitor center can be reached on foot from the village.
The nature trail of the Oasis begins with an old stone mule track, partly carved into the rock, from which you can admire vast mountain landscapes.
The upper part of the valley, to the northwest, is dominated by holm oak, oak, ash and hornbeam, while on the opposite side, more exposed to the sun, predominates the Mediterranean spot, composed of arboreal euphorbia, ampelodesma and lentisk.

Morigerati è un antico borgo arroccato su un promontorio a 268 metri sul livello del mare. Bandiera arancione del Touring Club, Morigerati è uno degli esperimenti più riusciti di ecoturismo in Campania. Il borgo è stato uno dei primi della regione a scommettere sull’ospitalità diffusa, con oltre 30 abitazioni aperte ai turisti ed un unico centro di prenotazioni. Si prenotano anche escursioni con l’asino, trekking guidato e ciclopasseggiate in mountain-bike. La dieta mediterranea è di casa e le tradizioni della civiltà contadina continuano tuttora immutate. Qui il tempo scorre lento e tutto gira intorno all’Oasi naturalistica a valle del centro abitato.
L’Oasi “Grotte del Bussento”, istituita nel 1985, è il progetto di conservazione più importante del WWF Italia ed è inserita nella lista dei Geoparchi mondiali. Pari a 607 ettari, l’Oasi si trova all’interno di un Sito d’Importanza Comunitaria ed è valorizzata dal Parco del Cilento nell’ambito dell’itinerario n° 15. Patrimonio preziosissimo di biodiversità e baluardo a difesa del territorio, l’area protetta di Morigerati richiama ogni anno migliaia di turisti.
Scendere nella vallone del fiume Bussento è un’esperienza di grandissimo impatto.
Il centro visite WWF si raggiunge a piedi dal borgo.
Il sentiero natura dell’Oasi inizia con un’antica mulattiera in pietra, in parte scavata nella roccia, da cui si ammirano vasti paesaggi montuosi.
La parte alta del vallone, a nord ovest, è dominata da leccio, roverella, frassino e carpino, mentre sul versante opposto, più esposto al sole, predomina la macchia maditerranea, composta da euforbia arborea, ampelodesma e lentisco.
