Canada’s capital was named best place to live for new Canadians in a scoring system that gave extra weight to unemployment rate, average rent and cultural diversity when comparing cities across the provinces and territories.
New Canadian immigrants should be beating a path to Ottawa, according to new rankings from MoneySense magazine.
Ottawa also topped the overall poll in a study that incorporated everything from average income to taxes, crime and weather.
You do not have to travel too far for the second place city for newcomers, with Quebec City of Gatineau, just across the river, filling the runner-up spot.
When you first immigrated to Canada, you probably chose your city or town of destination based on several factors:
You might have already had family or friends in that city.
You had visited the city before and liked it.
You had done your research and believed it was the right choice for you based on what the city had to offer in amenities, employment and climate.
But Canada is a large and diverse country, with many different provinces and municipalities that could make your Canadian experience vastly different depending on where you are located.

Head to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for a look at some of the free current exhibitions. We're here at Park Mount Royal to walk around and head to the lookout point for amazing city views. We chose to stay in the neighborhood of Le Plateau-Mont Royal. On Sunday afternoons you'll find a huge drumming circle on the east end of Mount Royal called Tam Tams. McGill University is one of the most prestigious universities in all of Canada. Poutine, a French Canadian dish, it is basically french fries with gravy and cheese curds on top. For a taste of French charm, wander down the cobbled streets of Old Montreal. Tonight we're at the Cirque du Soleil for a circus performance. The biodome is a popular attraction for families with children. Olympic Stadium is the former home of the Montreal Expos. The botanical gardens are home to beautiful gardens. Bell Center is home to the Montreal Canadiens, one of the most celebrated NHL franchises. There is no better place ot eat smoked meat in Montreal than Schwartz. The Notre Dame Basilica is located in the historic district of Old Montreal. If you enjoy checking out graffiti around Saint Catherine street which is also a shopping district. Eat St. Viateur bagels, which are really famous here in Montreal. A great way to get around the city is by Bixi bike. Montreal's Old Port is worth a wander. Welcome to Greenland.
We're here on the Greenland Explorer withQuark Expeditions and we're joined by the Expedition Leader, Alex McNeil.
Can you just run us through what maybe 24
hours might be like on the ship here?
An average day for me would probably be waking
up around 5 O'clock, and heading to the bridge
looking at local conditions, ice weather,
current, assessing our progress, towards our
proposed destination and looking for any opportunities
along the way.
And the essentially we have a time where we
plan to wake the passengers up.
Usually anywhere from 5:30 to 7:30 at the
latest, sometimes we give people a little
bit of a sleep in.
Then we go out on a morning excursion for
sure, for example, this morning we had a zodiac
cruise and a landing, the tide just got out,
we had a really good extended hike, and we're
going to assess opportunities.
Ready for a great day on the water!
Ship cruise the entirety of the Fjord, it's
about 60 miles
Picturesque jagged peaks, glaciers, that will
be great regardless, and who knows what opportunities
will present for zodiac cruises and other
adventures.
I forgot one thing, we're gonna get you to
jump in the water at some point too.
Oh,
Because we're back in the ice, and we've got
a little bit colder water, so it's time for
a polar plunge.
I like that, it's a little bit colder water.
We want it to be as cold as possible so people
can get the true feeling of the Polar Plunge.
If you go on a Quark Expedition Ship, make
sure to do the polar plunge, whether it's
in the Antarctic or it's up here in Greenland,
do it!
And Vodka is your reward, mine's empty.

you can see, the landscape never stops changing.

Wow, behind me is Jacobs Harbour, and this
is a harbour filled with ice bergs that come
from Jacobs Glacier.
And as we were told, all of these ice bergs,
eventually make it out of here and travel
all the way to Canada.

Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. It is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario.
