The Los Ríos Region is one of Chile's 16 regions, the country's first-order administrative divisions. Its capital is Valdivia. It began to operate as a region on October 2, 2007, having been created by subdividing the Los Lagos Region in southern Chile. It consists of two provinces: Valdivia and the newly created Ranco Province, which was formerly part of Valdivia Province.

  • 1. Parque Oncol Valdivia
    Oncol Park is a natural reserve located 32 km from the city of Valdivia, Chile. The park has an area of 7.54 km2 of which most lies on Cerro Oncol , the highest peak of the Valdivian Coast Range, but is only 5 km from the coast. Oncol Park is located in an area of 15 km2 of continuous Valdivian temperate rain forest. From the peak of Cerro Oncol it is possible to see Llaima Volcano, Villarrica Volcano and even Mount Tronador on the international border of Chile and Argentina. The park is property of the wood pulp enterprise Celulosa Arauco y Constitución.

    The Panguipulli Lake is one of the Seven Lakes in Panguipulli municipality, southern Chile. The lake is of glacial origin and it is enclosed by mountain ranges of the Andes, on all sides except the west, where the town of Panguipulli lies in the Chilean Central Valley. The lake is drained by the Enco River that flows south to Riñihue Lake.

    Mancera Island is a minor island at the mouth of Valdivia River. Prior to being named after the Marquis of Mancera the island was known as Güiguacabin to the indigenous Mapuches. In his 1544 expedition Juan Bautista Pastene, made the island known for the Spanish and named it Imperial. Later the island became known to the Spanish as Constantino after its owner Constantino Pérez, then its was known for a time it was known as Santa Ines. The name finally settled as Mancera after the Spanish viceroy of Peru Pedro de Toledo, 1st Marquis of Mancera, who ordered the fortification of the island. The fort was a vital point in the Valdivian Fort System, preventing enemy ships from reaching Valdivia from Corral Bay.In 1682, after Valdivia was badly damaged by a fire it was proposed to move the city...

    The Seven Lakes is a group of lakes which belong to the same drainage basin that starts in the Lácar Lake and ends in Corral Bay.All the seven lakes are located at least partly within the Panguipulli commune that promotes tourism in the area. The area is surrounded by four volcanoes; Villarrica, Quetrupillán, Lanín and Mocho-Choshuenco. Due to geothermal activity there are several hot springs in the zone, including Liquiñe.
