The river is considered the longest Slovenian coastline and one of the warmest and intact rivers in Slovenia. The river is particularly popular in the summer months, as the water's temperature rises up to 30°C. Kamanje municipality is located in the western part of Karlovac County along the river Kupa in the north, which is partly the state border with the Republic of Slovenia.
In the west and south, it borders on the Municipality of Žakanje, on the east side with the town of Ozalj, and in the north with the Republic of Slovenia. It stretches to 14.81 km², occupies 0.4% of the area of Karlovac County and is the smallest municipality in the county.
The municipality has a rural character and includes 7 settlements: Ozaljski Brod, Kamanje, Mali Vrh Kamanjski, Orljakovo, Ozaljska County, Reštovo and Velika Vrh Kamanjski.
The resorts are surrounded by natural meadows, forests and the fields cultivated under vineyards, gardens and orchards.
The area of the municipality belongs to the area of shallow karst and has characteristics of the dinaric relief, which is manifested in many caves and kernels. The most important cave is Vrlovka, a protected monument of nature.
The future of this region is the development of tourism. Just an hour from Zagreb, eight minutes from the border crossing with Slovenia, about twenty minutes from Karlovac and only two hours from the sea, Kamanje is an ideal place for the development of rural and excursion tourism, with the hospitality of its inhabitants open to all people of good will. The preserved old country houses, the cultivation of traditions and ancient customs, the caves Vrlovka and Kupa are just some of the pearls of the Kamanje region. Unsustainable, pure nature full of true beauty will probably be a real discovery for many future visitors.
