----- ENGLISH description of the Road Trip ------
We decided what places to visit and to get there by car during 5 days on October 2018.
-Day 1 started with a coffee in Bucharest and then we travelled to the first destination, Padurea Colorata Dumbrava and took a short photo session. We reached Targu Jiu and had a morning walk in the parc to see the Coloana Infinitului, Masa Tacerii and Poarta Sarutului (sculptor Constantin Brancusi). Short luch and then drove to the next destination, Cazanele Dunarii to see the big rock sculpture of Decebalus. Then we went to the Bigar Waterfall as the night fall and finally to Timisoara at the hotel.
-Day 2 started from the city center of Timisoara for a coffee at Starbucks, a morning walk on the Bega River and a hot tea at the best place around there, Scart - Loc Lejer (bar+comunist museum).
We travelled to Sarmizegetusa (capital of the Dacian empire) and then to the beautiful Castelul Corvinilor.
-Day 3 was raining but we went to Cetatea Deva, the cable car wasn't working but it was ok. After a short visit we went to Alba Iulia and walked around the old city all day long until we drove to Turda at a fantastic guest house on a hill in the middle of the grapes field.
-Day 4 we went to the Salina Turda and had a great time there, then we drove a bit to Sighisoara and stopped an hour to check the place. We then went to visit the Lacul Rosu and Cheile Bicazului.
We slept in Miercurea Ciuc and ate the best pizza ever in Romania in the city center.
-Day 5 We went to Ski Gyimes, a rollercoaster on a hill! That was amazing, then we drove to the Pestera Ialomita and discoverd a beautiful place.
We used Booking.com 1-2 hours before arriving in the last city to visit that day, and Tripadvisor in order to find the best places around where to eat. This worked just fine for us!

Sovata is a town in Mureş County, central Romania.
Sovata is situated between the Corund River and the valley of the Târnava Mică River. It can be reached from Târgu-Mureş, Miercurea-Ciuc and Odorheiu Secuiesc on the 13A main road and from Reghin on a connection road.
The geological events in 1875 gave birth to the Bear Lake, which is unique in Europe, its water being helio-thermal and salty, with well-known therapeutic effects (for chronic gynecological symptoms, severe rheumatic pains, peripheral nervous system and post-accidental motor diseases).
There are four more salty lakes: Nut Lake, Black Lake, Red Lake and Green Lake. In the interwar period, Sovata became one of the most fashionable spas in the country, visited several times even by the Romanian Royal Family.

Il ya quatre lacs salés plus: Nut Lake, Black Lake, Red Lake et Lac Vert. Entre les deux guerres, Sovata est devenu l'un des spas les plus en vogue dans le pays, a rendu visite à plusieurs reprises même par la famille royale roumaine.

Băile SÂNTIMBRU Spa - Büdösfürdő (Harghita County, Romania)
Sântimbru Spa are located about 20 km from Miercurea Ciuc in central South Harghita Mountains at 1250 - 1350 m altitude. Access is made on a 14 Km county road, starting from the Sâncrăieni commune. Specific to this resort is the smell of gas mofetta, hence the Hungarian name Büdösfürdő = smelly bathrooms (stinking). Mofettes is cold, post-volcanic gas emanations. They are contituie mainly carbon dioxide (CO2), frequently over 95%. Subordinate containing nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, radon, etc. The resort consists of a cluster of holiday homes scattered among the trees of the forest. To these add a shop having the buffet role. In the tall spruces can sometimes see squirrels.
The area of greatest interest is the wet glade located in the spring zone of the Mine Brook. Here are two mofettes and a mineral water spring. Once work here warm baths (with heated mineral water). At the edge of the glade, with European funding, was recently built a Health Center but according to our observations of the past two years, is not functional. The building incorporates one mofette, inaccessible now.
In the resort there are several mineral springs that can be used for internal and external treatments.
Immersion (partial!) in the mofette gas activates the peripheral circulation, very indicated to treat rheumatism. In medical terms, for patients with rheumatoid arthritis ensure an improvement in the general condition and reduce articular inflammatory process. Also, the mofettes are recommended for heart disease and circulatory system.
You can say that the therapeutic potential of Santimbru Spa is not used than strictly local level. The new Health Center is not functional. No further medical staffing specialist.
At the top of the resort is Mofetta 3. Next to it was recently built a tourist information point. Near Mofetta 3 there are traces of a former quarry of cinnabar (mercuric sulfide - HgS) .
Băile Sântimbru sunt situate la circa 20 Km de Miercurea Ciuc în partea centrală a Munților Harghita de Sud, în zona de creastă, la 1.250-1.350 m altitudine. Accesul se realizează pe un drum județean de 14 Km care pornește din comuna Sâncrăieni. Pe primii kilometri drumul este asfaltat, dar în rest este destul de rău. Specific acestei stațiuni este mirosul specific, neplăcut, de gaze mofetice, de unde și denumirea ungurească Büdösfürdő = Băile puturoase (împuțite). Mofetele reprezintă emanații de gaze postvulcanice reci și sunt contituite preponderent din dioxid de carbon (CO2), frecvent peste 95%. Subordonat conțin azot, oxigen, hidrogen sulfurat, radon etc. Datorită prezenței hidrogenului sulfurat care imprimă mirosul specific aceste emanații au fost numite solfatare, greșit, deoarece acestea sunt gaze vulcanice fierbinți.
Stațiunea constă dintr-o aglomerare oarecum haotică de cabane particulare (case de vacanță) presărate printre arborii pădurii și o prăvălie având și rol de bufet. În molizii înalți se pot uneori observa veverițe care obișnuiesc să-și caute de treabă și prin bucătării.
Zona de maxim interes este reprezentată de poiana umedă cu aspect mlăștinos situată în zona de izvoare a Pârâului Minei. Aici se găsesc două mofete și un izvor cu apă minerală. Pe vremuri funcționau aici băi calde (cu apă minerală încălzită).
La marginea acestei poieni, cu finanțare europeană, s-a construit de curând un ”Centru de tratament” dar care, conform observațiilor noastre din ultimii doi ani, nu este funcțional. Clădirea înglobează și una din mofete care astfel, acum, este inaccesibilă. În zona stațiunii sunt mai multe izvoare minerale.
Apele minerale, în cura internă se pot utiliza în tratamentul dispepsiilor hipostenice, în cure de diureză şi în anemii simple. Prin cură externă băile sunt recomandate în afecţiuni cardiovasculare, tulburări circulatorii, inflamaţii cronice şi în cazuri de hipertensiune arterială.
Scufundarea (parțiala !) în gazul mofetic activează circulația periferică, fiind foarte indicate în tratamentul reumatismului. În termeni medicali, mofetele asigură bolnavilor cu artrită reumatoidă o ameliorare a stării generale şi retrocedare a procesului inflamator articular. De asemenea, mofetele din staţiune sunt recomandate în boli de inimă şi ale sistemului circulator.
Se poate spune că potențialul terapeutic deosebit al Băilor Harghita nu este valorificat decât la nivel strict local, noul ”Centru de tratament” nefiind funcțional. Nu există alte dotări cu personal medical de specialitate.
În partea de sus a stațiunii se găsește Mofeta 3. Lângă ea, la drum, a fost construit recent un punct de informare turistică.
Lângă Mofeta 3 sunt urmele unei foste cariere în care s-a exploatat cinabru (sulfura de mercur - HgS) pentru scurt timp.

Băile MADICEA Spa - Madicsa fürdő (Harghita, Transylvania, Romania)

Madicea Spa (Madicsa-fürdő, in Hungarian) is situated in the valley of the Madicea brook, about 4 km west of the village of Cârţa, at the western foot of the Harghita Mountains, in a depression area, practically uninhabited. Here, in the river bed, there are two carbonated mineral springs (2.8 g / l total mineralization) collected in concrete rings and housed in a wooden pavilion. One of the springs is covered and the water flows freely with low flow. In the other spring the mineral water boils vigorously, and the water is taked in a bucket, handled with a stick. The Madicea Spa also had better times, until 1995, where tubes with hot mineral water functioned here. Mineral water treatment was indicated for rheumatic diseases, heart disease, and circulatory or nerve disorders. Next to it was a concrete basin, all of which were now completely degraded. In 2016, a Public Tourist Refuge was built and the pavilion that houses the two springs was restored. There is currently no basis of treatment or public food. The park of the baths area can be used for picnics or folk parties.
Băile Madicea (Madicsa-fürdő, în ungurește) sunt situate în valea pârâului Madicea, la circa 4 km vest de comuna Cârța, la poalele vestice ale Munților Harghita, într-o zonă cu aspect depresionar, practic nelocuită. Aici, chiar în albia pârâului, se găsesc două izvoare minerale (2,8 g/l mineralizația totală) carbogazoase captate în inele de beton adăpostite de un pavilion de lemn. Unul din izvoare este acoperit și apa curge liber cu debit mic. În celălalt izvor apa minerală bolborosește puternic, iar apa se scoate cu o găleată manevrată cu un băț. Băile Madicea au avut și vremuri mai bune, până prin anul 1995 aici funcționând un stabiliment cu vane și apă minerală încălzită. Tratamentul cu apă minerală era indicat contra afecțiunilor reumatice, ale inimii, precum și a tulburărilor circulatorii sau nervoase. Alături era și un bazin din beton, toate acestea fiind acum complet degradate. În anul 2016 s-a construit un ”Refugiu turistic de utilitate publică” și s-a refăcut pavilionul care adăpostește cele două izvoare. În prezent nu există nicio bază de tratament sau de alimentație publică. Parcul din zona băilor poate fi folosit pentru picnic sau petreceri populare.
Băile CIBRE Bath - Cibre Fürdő (Harghita County, Romania)

Cibre Bath (pronounced Tzibre) are situated about at 13 Km NE of Miercurea Ciuc, between the communes Frumoasa and Mihăileni (Harghita County), in the foothills, in a picturesque valley called Cibre. Cibre Bath are named after the old village Cibre existing in the area, village that was destroyed by an invasion of the Tatars in 1694. In the area there are more sparkling mineral water springs rich in calcium bicarbonate. They have been used since ancient times as drinking water and for treating various diseases. In the 19th century popular baths functioned here. These were deteriorated over time, but were restored in 2007 by the administration and the villagers from Frumoasa and Mihăileni.
Băile Cibre (se pronunţă Ţibre) se găsesc la circa 13 Km NE de Miercurea Ciuc, între comunele Frumoasa şi Mihăileni (jud. Harghita), la poalele munţilor, într-o pitorească zonă depresionară denumită Cibre. Sunt denumite după vechiul sat Cibre existent în această zonă, sat care a fost distrus de către o invazie a tătarilor în 1694. În zonă apar mai multe izvoare de apă minerală carbogazoasă, bogate în bicarbonat de calciu. Ele au fost folosite încă din timpuri vechi ca apă de băut şi pentru tratarea diferitelor afecţiuni. În secolul 19 au funcţionat aici băi populare. Acestea s-au deteriorat în timp, însă au fost reabilitate în anul 2007 de către administraţia şi locuitorii comunelor Frumoasa şi Mihăileni. În apropierea băilor este meționată existența a două bălți cu plante glaciare relicte.
Cibre fürdő Szépvíztől északra, a hegyek lábánál fekvő Cibre nevű medencében található, kb. 1 km-re a községtől. A Csíkszentmihály és Csíkszépvíz között található Cibrefalvát az 1694. február 15.-i tatárbetöréskor földig lerombolták. A terület nagyon gazdag borvízforrásokban. A források vizét régi idők óta ivásra és gyógyításra használják. A források vize kálcium-hidrogénkarbonátos. A 19. században népi gyógyfürdő létezett itt, amely időközben tönkrement, azonban Csíkszépvíz és Csíkszentmihály vezetőinek és lakosságának összefogásával felújították 2007-ben.
