Trip to Wakayama/Mie12-2010
Yoko and I spent three days in Wakayama and Mie, Dec. 30th to Jan. 1st. We left Nagoya by train to Kii Katsuura Station. From there it was all by tour bus, except for the Turtle Boat to the first hotel.
We stayed at two Urashima Hotels, the first one in Nachi Katsuura-Cho, at the Port of Katsuura. The second one was Urashima Harbor Hotel in Kushimoto. One of them had 5 hotsprings and a couple were in caves with nice ocean views. check out this video:
The tour included Adventure World in Shirahama (its most popular attraction are the baby pandas), Kushimoto Marine Park, Hashikui Rocks and the southern-most place in Shiono-Misaki (Cape Tower), where we had a Tuna burger.
In Kumano we stopped at Nachi Falls and Nachi Taisha Shrine (to go up you have to climb 473 stone steps). Up there we had coffee and cake.
Our last stop before taking the train back to Nagoya was at the natural rock formation called Onigajo (devil's castle) near Kumanoshi Station.
