Fürst Johann I. von Liechtenstein schmückte die Bergeshöhen und die Klausen mit romantischen, künstlichen Ruinen. Der Schwarzen Turm, die Augengläser, das Amphitheater und auch das erste Kriegerdenkmal Österreichs, der Husarentempel, stammen aus dieser Zeit. Die Augengläser eine Wand mit zwei Spitzbogenfensteröffnungen, erbaut um 1807. Sie wurden wahrscheinlich
aus Resten eines alten Aussichtsturmes gebaut.Eine Pseudoruine die einen netten Blick über Mödling anbietet...

Die begeisterten Fachleute ergriffen die Initiative, diese faszinierende Sehenswürdigkeit der Öffentlichkeit als Schaubergwerk zugängig zu machen. Im Jahre 1932 wurde die „SEEGROTTE zum ersten Mal als Schaubergwerk eröffnet.
