Local Boys swimming in the Kumbukkan Oya (River) in the Monaragala Area. About Monaragala: (Sinhala: මොනරාගල , Tamil: மொணராகலை) is a district in Uva Province of Sri Lanka. It is the largest of the 25 districts of Sri Lanka, with an area of 7,133 km².Monaragala District.Monaragala, meaning the 'rock of peacock landing' is a district in Uva Province, Sri Lanka. Moneragala district is mainly made up of rubber, cocoa and sugar cane plantations and paddy lands.The valley is mostly dry. The townships are located in the flat land. The main occupation of those who live here is farming. Cultivation of land is linked to the monsoon. The savanna like plain has its share of wildlife such as elephants, peacock, fox, buffalo, deer and elk.The lush green hills form a wet zone (microclimate) deep within Sri Lanka's dry savanna like plain. Springs originate in here. The hills are crowded with rubber and cocoa plantations, wild trees and overgrown tea plants. Anteater, wild boar, barking deer, mouse deer, hare, porcupine, python and monkeys are some of the common animals found in these jungles. The hills are the delight of trackers. There are several seasoned paths that wind through these hills. The hills are within 5 miles radius of Monaragala town.(wikipedia)

Ellawala waterfall - wellawaya - Sri lanaka
Ellewala Ella Falls – #ඇල්ලෙවල #ඇල්ල
Height : 4 meters
District : Monaragala
Ellewala Ella is a small but beautiful waterfall lying in the Monaragala District accessible from the Ella – Wellawaya Road. This waterfall lies hidden inside the jungle about 5 km from Wellawaya Town.
The LCWF list the Ellewala Falls in Ratnapura District. This may be either a mistake or a different but unknown Elle Wala Waterfall. The Ellewala Ella listed here belongs to the Monaragala District.
Coming from Wellawaya, travel 3 km on the Ella Road to reach the Rathmal Vehera Ancient Temple. Take the road oppersite to the temple which will lead to the waterfall. Last few kilo meters are said be rough and not suitable for a vehicle with low ground clearance. You may need a 4×4 will need to travel by a 3 wheeler. To reach the fall, you will need to walk few hundred meters in to the jungle.
