Moon Township is a township along the Ohio River in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. Moon is a part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area and is located 12 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Moon Lake State Forest Recreation Area is a 942-acre , recreation area within Pinchot State Forest in Plymouth Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. It is open for mountain biking, hiking, fishing, bird watching, and nature study. The recreation area consists of open fields and woodlots surrounding Moon Lake, a 48-acre , spring-fed lake. Moon Lake SFRA is in the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. It is located near Pennsylvania Route 29 on the western edge of the Scranton—Wilkes-Barre—Hazleton metropolitan statistical area.

Ohiopyle State Park is a Pennsylvania state park on 19,052 acres in Dunbar, Henry Clay and Stewart Townships, Fayette County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The focal point of the park is the more than 14 miles of the Youghiogheny River Gorge that passes through the park. The river provides some of the best whitewater boating in the Eastern United States. Ohiopyle State Park is bisected by Pennsylvania Route 381 south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The park opened to the public in 1965, but was not officially dedicated until 1971. Ohiopyle State Park was chosen by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and its Bureau of Parks as one of 25 Must-See Pennsylvania State Parks.

Kennywood is an amusement park located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. The park first opened as a trolley park attraction at the end of the Mellon family's Monongahela Street Railway on May 30, 1899. It was purchased in 1906 by F. W. Henninger and Andrew McSwigan who later formed the Kennywood Entertainment Company, which owned and operated the park as a closely held family business for over 100 years. Kennywood was purchased by California-based Palace Entertainment in 2007. The amusement park features various structures and rides dating back to the early 1900s. Along with Rye Playland Park, it is one of only two amusement parks designated a National Historic Landmark for its history and historic rides, and is one of only thirteen trolley parks still operating in the United States.

Moon Township Community and Real Estate

Nestled along the Ohio River in Allegheny County, located just 12 miles northwest of the city, is the wooded township of Moon.

Less than 15 minutes to Pittsburgh’s International Airport, Moon has much to offer, with corporations looking to build, business owners hoping to provide products or services to a new market, quirky well established restaurants, or people searching for the perfect community to call home.

Founded in 1788 Moon Township was the first township established in Allegheny County.

Later, Moon became home to Pittsburgh's modern-day airport in 1951, replacing the Allegheny County Airport as the main terminal for the region. The area developed mainly due to the airport. Prior to this time, the western hills of Allegheny County consisted largely of rolling farms and small residential developments.

The township is also home to the Air Force Reserve 911th Airlift Wing, which was established in 1943.

Since the loss of the airport terminal, which now resides just outside of the township lines, Moon has shifted its focus from airport commerce to corporate development. It has become a university hub as well, as the main campus of Robert Morris University is also located within the township.

As for homes here, you will find people who prefer woods and established developments, seeking a life away from the hustle and bustle of commercial establishments. And though Moon does have corporations within its borders, main shopping, and malls are located in townships surrounding Moon, giving residents a chance for the quite life.

So, if you are looking for a life where many of the residents seek convenience without giving in to amenities, then Moon might just be the place for you.

In the north hills of Pittsburgh, adjacent to the booming township of Cranberry in picturesque Butler County, you will find the quiet bedroom community of Adams.

Named for the sixth president of the United States, John Quincy Adams, this township was originally founded in 1854, predominantly as a quiet farming community. In 1878, the construction of a major railroad running north to south along Breakneck Creek sparked tremendous development in the area and gave rise to the three separate boroughs of Mars, Callery, and Valencia. Centuries later, the manufacturing and other industries in Adams are still very much dependent on the railway, which serves as the major route between Chicago and Pittsburgh, and the community retains much of its original small-town charm.

As far as amenities go, residents of Adams enjoy being close to commercial projects like restaurants while reveling in their suburban enclaves like Seven Field and the high-end Treesdale development.

The population of Adams Township has evolved in recent years. Once a stable, predominantly agricultural community, over the last couple of decades it has been slowly transforming into a suburban bedroom community where the majority of residents commute to work elsewhere in the Pittsburgh region. As new residents move into the Township, Adams is becoming more diverse, but it still maintains its close-knit community feeling.

The park, built on the grounds where both Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt were back in the 18th Century, provides great views of the three rivers, a fountain, views of both Heinz Field & PNC Park, and downtown Pittsburgh.
