Muara Enim Regency Tourism - South Sumatra
Muara Enim regency, lies in the middle of the South Sumatra Province, known as th richest the regency for its oil and gas exploration and coal mines. located between 104 - 106 East longitude and 4 -6 South latitude, the area of 9.576 square kilometres consists of lowlands and plateaus with hilly lands of Bukit Barisan range. The highest peak is mount of Bepagut (2.817metres), situated in semendo district, and agricultural base of the regency.
Muara Enim is not only rich of oil, gas and coal resources, but also plantation of rubber, palm oil, coffee, coconut trees, fruits and industrial woods. the plantations and agricultural products including rice products contribute to the prosperity of the population of more than 612 thosands who live in the region.
A great variety of fruits is always available in the marketplace, especially in season.
The durian, duku and pineapple are produced in great numbers by farmers in Muara Enim.
The capital, Muara Enim, about 183 kilometres apart from Palembang, is a town of transit point of Sumatra highway in South Sumatra. it makes the town accessible, by public buses or private motor vehicles from Palembang, or by train from Palembang. two big rivers, Lematang and Enim, run through teh regency.
The Curup Tenang Waterfall in South Sumatra, located near Bedegung village in Tanjung Agung district, about 56 kilometres South in Muara Enim.
In Bukit Barisan gap and form a fast current river beneath it. it is a main tourism object of the regency.
To facilitate the visitor, there has been built a 600 metres path along the bank of the river beneath and so the visitors might easily come closer to the waterfall. Up the river there are available a parking area, and small restaurants. while down the river there are bathing area nad fishing place, including the facilities needed.
The natural waterfall is indeed an ideal place for recreation. the wind cool water drops will blow softly upon your face as you come closer. the beauty of nature of the mountenous area is really impressed.
To facilitate visitors to the waterfall, there has been built a 87 kilometres new road leading from the town of Prabumulih to a village called Simpang Meo, through plantations of industrial woods and palm oil.
The new transportation facility makes the distance from Palembang to Curup Tenang waterfall accessible within 2 hours, 177 kilometres long. the new distance of course, is closer compare with riding through Muara Enim, the capital, which means 239 kilometres long
Curup Ayun Ambatan Pulau
Curup Ayun Ambatan Pulau is located about 4 kilometres from Curup Tenang Waterfall. it is a thundering noisy stream of Meo that runs through the gaps huge rocks. leafy frees are seen along the bank of the river. the place is crowded on sunday and holidays for recreation or picnic and fishing.
Gemuhak Hot Water
Is a specific tourism object of Muara Enim regency, located at the top a little hill called Umang, near Penidaian village in Semendo district about 70 kilometres apart from Muara Enim. there are two hot water springs where we can witness sulphuric mud spitting out on and on., and gently fall down into a tiny hot water stream that running from the top of the hill. it is said the temperature of the hot water is round 96,7 degrees of celcius.
Segayam Lake
It is located 51 kilometres from Palembang, the palace for picnic. the lake is habitat of various fishes. to get there, you can take public buses or private vehicle. it is generally crowded on sundays and holidays, especially by local visitors.
