Buddhism is the largest minority religion. The World Heritage site at Lumbini, which is traditionally considered to be the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, is an important pilgrimage site. Another prominent Buddhist site is Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, in Kathmandu.
Dang valley is a sacred place for Hindus as well as other religions. Kalika and Malika Devi in Chhillikot hill, Ambekeshawori temple, Krishna temple, Dharapani temple are among the sacred places in Dang district. Chillikot hill is also a good place for sightseeing and also an ancient palace of a king.
Muktinath is a sacred place for Hindus as well as Buddhists. The site is located in Muktinath Valley, Mustang district.

According to Hindu mythology, the life of a person does not end even after the death; it goes on till the unknown through the cycles of birth and rebirth. To end such a never-ending cycle and pave one's path to the heaven, one needs to get Mukti or Moksha (salvation) and it is possible only after setting foot on the pious soil of this region. So the temple here is named Muktinath. For a devout Hindu soul, attainment of salvation is a supreme goal. So thousands of faithful followers of the religion flock to this region in quest of the salvation, Even Buddhists worship Muktinath as their holy shrine believing their Guru Rimpoche (founder of Tibetan Buddhism) received enlightenment here. This region is very famous for Shaligrams (ammonites). Shaligrams hold great religious significance in the Hindu religion with a belief that Lord Vishnu turned into a Shaligram after being cursed by Brinda, a holy woman. Muktinath is a valley consisting of seven historic villages -- Putak, Jhong, Chhyonkhar, Purang, Jharkoy, Khinga and Ranipauwa, and the region is majorly inhabited by the Bhotias.
The temple lies at an altitude of 3800 meters above the sea level at the base of Thorang peak in Mustang district. While doing the famous Annapurna round trek, we enter Mustang through the Muktinath temple. The temple provides excellent views of Tibetan plateau and the Annapurna massifs.
The self-originated holy shrine is regarded highly by Hindus and Buddhists alike, and is a supreme example of religious tolerance between the two religions. The 108 water spouts and the
Jala- Vaishnava(the never-ending natural fire-light by the water) makes this place mysterious and fills it with awe. According to the common belief, the temple must be visited a least once after paying visits to four Dhams in the India.

Muktinath Nepal, is the popular Vishnu temple located at Nepal. Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass (part of the Himalayas) in Mustang, Nepal. The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa.
The holy shrine, which is said to have arisen on its own, is one of eight such shrines (the others include Srirangam, Sri Mushnam, Tirupati, Naimisaranyam, Thottadri, Pushkaram, and Badrinath). This Pagoda Style Muktinath Temple is also one of 108 Vaishnava shrines. Here in the early 19th century the Hindus consecrated a Vishnu temple and named is Muktinath - Lord of Liberation. Against a backdrop of incredible starkness, you can sit and stare at the south the snow-covered Annapurna range, or to the north the Tibetan plateau.
There are 108 waterspouts in the backyard of this temple called as Muktidhara where frozen water is continuously flowing from the bullhead and two Kunda (ponds in front of the temple). Taking bath in these 108 waterspouts and two Kunda (ponds) believes to bring salvation.

Nepal has 14 zones, one of them is Dhaulagiri zone, and it includes Mustang district, a mountainous district of Nepal, where the 5th Dham (pilgrimage) of the Hindus, one major Shakti Peeth out of 51 others, is located. Many come to Muktinath and worship the holy Muktinath Temple. The journey begins from Kathmandu via Thankot, and from there, one has to cross many beautiful hilly bends, alongside the banks of the Trishuli River on the Prithivi Highway; then advancing towards Kurintar, Muglin, Dumre and Damauli. One drives to Pokhara for about six hours, the gateway to the Temple of Muktinath.
The beautiful Pokhara town is located at the foothills of the Annapurna Range. It is not only an important town from the natural point of view, but also significant from religious and cultural aspects.
Pilgrims reach Jomsom in a 25 - minute flight from Pokhara. From Jomsom, they take a jeep ride for about 2 hours alongside the Kaligandaki River bank right up to Kagbeni, and upwards to Jharkot, then to Rani Pauwa, and in about 10 minutes walk, one reaches the Muktinath Temple. Among many religious pilgrimage sites in Nepal, Muktinath is a very famous pilgrimage site. Muktinath is 389km away from Kathmandu. Located at 3750m above the sea level, Hindu pilgrims call it Mukti Chhetra, and Buddhists call it Chhuming Gyatsa in Tibetan language. People believe that by performing Darshan or paying homage to Muktinath, they get rid of all the sins committed during their lifetime. Muktinath is a common pilgrimage site for Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Vaishanab pilgrims. Many pilgrims come to visit Muktinath from India and abroad every year. In Muktinath there are 108 water spouts. Whoever takes bath under these spouts is believed to earn eternal virtue in life. First of all, people first take a holy bath under these spouts and then pay homage to the Muktinath Temple. As per the Hindu belief, whoever performs Śrāddha (memorial service) in the name of dead ancestors, they go to heaven.

Having reached Kagbeni safely, I decided to ride further the next morning to visit the famous town of Muktinath. Home to a temple and a monastery, Muktinath is one of the few places that is of religious importance to both Hinduism and Buddhism alike. A fabulous stretch of tarmac amidst the gorgeous Mustang landscape, a glimpse of Muktinath and all that comes with it and some time spent exploring the narrow alleys of Kagbeni. Watch the video to see some of what I saw while I was there.
