It's been over 34 years since I've been back to the motherland. Had an amazing time touring the Aklan Province seeing places like Kalibo, Numancia, New Washington, Boracay, Tibiao, San Joaquin and Iloilo just to name a few. If you ever get the chance to visit the Phillippines, I highly recommend it.

a TRUE experience in KALIBO - PHILIPPINES
Here in Kalibo i could enjoy a very deep insight into the real philippino lifestyle. My host was a Philippina also, which gave me so much richness in knowledge about the town and country. This is one of the reasons why i love Couchsurfing so much! And one of the others is that you make great friends!

Bakhawan Eco-Park (Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines)
It is a multi-awarded destination recipient of the Golden Eagle Award in the Asia Pacific for the best mangrove reforestation project that boasts of an exceptional nature thrill for eco-tourists and visitors.
The 80 hectare eco-park includes a small park and a recreation area, a 15-minute eco-walk pathway bridge built of woods that wind up into the wide stretch of thick mangrove plantation and ends up out onto the beach where one could enjoy a breathtaking grasp of nature or a picnic to unwind to.
