Namib Naukluft (Namibia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Namib Naukluft in Namibia.
The arid landscape of the Namib Naukluft Park in the heart of Namibia seems to be endless and it is the fourth largest nature reserve in the world. In the northern region, between the river valleys of the Swakop and Kuiseb, vast fields of scree cover the majority of this fifty thousand square kilometre conservation area. The remote world of stone and rock seems so strange and unreal that one of the valleys in this region is called Moon Valley.Further into the Namib Desert and the colours of the surrounding landscape grow more intense. It is as though both earth and sky are competing against each other to see who shines brightest. The majestic and world famous blazing red dunes of Sossusvlei tower more than three hundred metres over the landscape. In this extremely hot, arid and treacherous ocean of sand even the trees seem to have given up their struggle for survival. Most of the waterholes have dried out and now this region's wildlife must prepare for yet another period of interminable draught. At the end of the day the fiery sky seems to emulate the warm red colours of the mighty sand dunes and amid the beautiful scenery the magnificent world of the Namib Naukluft Park gradually merges with the intense glow of sunset.

Namibia road trip day 14 Namibia Vlog Namib Naukluft National Park Naukluft camp, Naukluft mountains
My Namibia vlog continues on day 14 of my Namibia road trip heading back into the desert and the Naukluft Mountains in the Namib Naukluft National Park, often referred to as the Naukluft Mountain Zebra park. The Naukluft park in Namibia has great hiking, but first I have to change my tire and find my campsite without driving over the edge of a cliff into the river.
Having found my Naukluft campsite I setup camp with the roof tent for the final time on this Namibia trip, it’s a bit sad to think this is the last time.

Namibia Travel Vlog Road Trip day 12 Sesriem to Duwisib Castle via the Namib Naukluft National Park
It's day 12 of my Namibia road trip, in this part of my Namibia travel vlog I am driving from Sesriem to Duwisib Castle taking in the barren desert landscape of the Namib Naukluft Park on my way and getting some ariel footage for a Namibia drone video.
When I finally get to Duwisib Castle, after taking many many photographs of the Namib desert along the way, I have a nice surprise when I see the Duwisib accommodation where I will be staying.
Todays journey is quite a spectacular one, leaving the Sesriem area of the Namib Naukluft behind but not the Naukluft desert. We will be driving through the Namib Naukluft Park – the public road runs through this section of the park so there are no park fees to pay for this part of the national park.
Our journey will take us away from the sand dune part of the Namib desert across a flat area between the Naukluft mountains, the Tiras mountains and the Namib desert as we head south from Sesriem on an amazingly straight road through a beautiful barren desert landscape. With more animals, especially Oryx Gemsbok, than people or cars, I just love this desert landscape. This is what a barren landscape looks like.
I park on the side of the straight road to put the UAV drone up (Phantom 4 Pro) for a little flight to get some drone footage for a Namibia drone video. From the drone I can see into the Namib Desert, the Naukluft mountains are in the background, I can see where I have come from at Sesriem, the sand dunes of Sossuvlei are just over the horizon. To the south are the Tiras mountains.
I follow the straight desert road all the way to Duwisib Castle – a castle in the desert.
And surprise! I didn't realize the rooms are actually in the castle so tonight I'm sleeping in the castle.

Duwisib Castle is managed by Namibia Wildlife Resorts. You can book it here:
You can also book your accommodation for Sesriem (Sossusvlei and the sand dunes), Namib Naukluft Park, Etosha and in fact all the Namibia National parks from this sight.
The NWR camps do get busy and booked up well in advance, especially Sesriem and Etosha, so if they are fully booked and for accommodation in other parts of Namibia try:
For Namib Naukluft and Duwisib Castle you can usually book much closer to the time if you need to, unless they have a large party visiting they will usually have space for you.
With this availability in mind I recommend when you start planning your trip you try to book your accommodation at or near Sesriem (southern Namibia) and Ethosha (northern Namibia), leaving your dates in between flexible. Once you have these two key must see parts of your Namibia trip booked it should be comparatively easy to fit the rest of your itinerary around this.
I am also more than happy to answer any questions you might have about travelling in Namibia so please do leave a comment below I will definitely respond as soon as I can.

Namibia roadtrip day 10: road to Sossusvlei watch the sunrise over the sand dunes and visit dune 45
Travel with Simon on my Namibia road trip as we head out into the sand dunes at Sossuvlei to see the biggest dunes on earth. See how not to avoid getting stuck in the sand! On the way back to camp at Sesriem we will stop for breakfast at Dune 45.
On day 10 of our Namibia roadtrip we are heading out into the sand dunes at Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert to watch the sunrise.
The Sossusvlei road from the the campsite at Sesriem is through thick sand, if you don't want to get stuck then park your car at the 2x4 car park and take the shuttle. It's cheap and runs about every 15 minutes in open safari vehicles with super flat tyres.
There are a number of dunes you can visit on the way back including Dune 45 (Big Daddy) which is possibly the most photographed individual dune and great for sunset (for viewing the sunset itself rather than the sun setting over the dunes). Another famous dune worth a visit is Dune 5 or Elim Dune.
Sossusvlei forms part of the Namib Naukluft park, but don't get confused, the Namib Naukluft is a very large park and to see the red sand dunes at Sossusvlei or to see Deadvlei you must enter through the park gate at Sesriem. The camp ground known as Namib Naukluft is some 100km away in a different section of the park entirely.

Namibia: Oldest Desert on Earth
I got to explore some of Namibia, home to the oldest desert in the world, during a recent road trip and photo shoot with DoucheBags. We mostly explored the popular destinations of Luderitz, kolmanskop ghost town, Sossusvlei as well as the coastal towns of Walvis bay and Smakopmund and scored some surf at Skeleton bay, Insane sand boarding and even some wakeboarding behind one of the cars. Such an insane road trip with an awesome crew of people from all over the world!
