Morioka Castle Site Park ( Morioka City )
( National historic site )
Morioka Castle was a beautiful three-story castle which served as the residence of the Nambu lords. Its construction began in 1598, and by 1609, Morioka had developed as a castle town. However, the age of the samurai eventually came to a close, and the castle was demolished in 1874. The site became desolate after the demolition, but it was revived in 1906 as Iwate Park; in 2006, the park was given a new nickname Morioka Castle Site Park to commemorate its 100th anniversary. Though the castle no longer stands today, you can still see the beautiful stone walls throughout the park.
Nitobe Inazo, who wrote Bushido: The Soul of Japan ( 1900 ) , was born just across the river from the park; today, his monument stands in the park. There are many reasons to visit the park throughout the year: the Morioka Cherry Blossom Festival in the spring, the lush green foliage in the summer, the colorful foliage and music festival in the fall, and the illuminated stone walls in the winter.

History
Suntory was started by Torii Shinjiro, who first opened his store Torii Shoten in Osaka on February 1, 1899, to sell imported wines. In 1907, the store began selling a sweet tasting red wine called Akadama Port Wine. The store became Kotobukiya company in 1921 to further expand its business. In December 1924, Yamazaki Distillery, the first Japanese whisky distillery, began its production of malt whisky. Five years later Suntory Whisky Sirofuda (White Label), the first single malt whisky made in Japan, was sold.
Due to wartime shortage of World War II, Kotobukiya was briefly forced to halt its development of new products. In 1961, Kotobukiya launched the famous Drink Tory's (Whisky) and Go to Hawaii campaign. At the time, a trip abroad was considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. In 1963, Kotobukiya changed its name to Suntory, taken from the name of the famous whisky it produces. In the same year, Musashino Beer Factory began its production of the Suntory Beer. In 1997, the company became Japan's sole bottler, distributor, and licensee of Pepsi products.
Kisaburo udon shop is located about ten minutes from Bubaigarwara station and there is signage at the station to guide you there. Its well known locally so just ask!

World heritage sites at Hiraizumi and Morioka City.
Hiraizumi (平泉町 Hiraizumi-chō?) is a town located in Nishiiwai District, Iwate, Japan. It was the home of the Hiraizumi Fujiwaras for about 100 years in the late Heian era and most of the following Kamakura period. At the same time it served as the de facto capital of Oshu, an area containing nearly a third of the Japanese land area. At its height the population of Hiraizumi reached 50,000[1] or more than 100,000,[2] rivaling Kyoto in size and splendour.
Morioka (盛岡市 Morioka-shi?) is the capital city of Iwate Prefecture, Japan.
As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 300,740 and a population density of 588.11 persons per km². The total area is 489.15 km².
Morioka was founded in 1597 by Nobunao, the 26th lord of the Nanbu clan, as a castle town. In 1655 Nanbu-han was divided into Morioka-han and Hachinohe-han. Its name was changed from 森岡 to 盛岡 (both read as Morioka) in 1683 when the population was 36,000. The city was designated the capital of Iwate on April 1, 1889.
