Cape Town is the second-most populated city in South Africa after Johannesburg, and the provincial capital and primate city of the Western Cape. As the seat of the National
Parliament, it is also the legislative capital of the country. It forms part of the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. The city is famous for its harbour as well as
its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is also Africa's most popular tourist destination.
Cape Town is not only the most popular international tourist destination in South Africa, but Africa as a whole. This is due to its good climate, natural setting, and well-
developed infrastructure. The city has several well-known natural features that attract tourists, most notably Table Mountain, which forms a large part of the Table Mountain
National Park and is the back end of the City Bowl. Reaching the top of the mountain can be achieved either by hiking up, or by taking the Table Mountain Cableway. Cape Point is recognised as the dramatic headland at the end of the Cape Peninsula. Many tourists also drive along Chapman's Peak Drive, a narrow road that links Noordhoek with Hout Bay, for the views of the Atlantic Ocean and nearby mountains. It is possible to either drive or hike up Signal Hill for closer views of the City Bowl and Table Mountain.

Many tourists also visit Cape Town's beaches, which are popular with local residents. Due to the city's unique geography, it is possible to visit several different beaches in the same day, each with a different setting and atmosphere. Though the Cape's water ranges from cold to mild, the difference between the two sides of the city is dramatic.
While the Atlantic Seaboard averages annual water temperatures barely above that of coastal California around 13 °C (55 °F), the False Bay coast is very much warmer, averaging between 16 and 17 °C (61 and 63 °F) annually. This is similar to water temperatures in much of the Northern Mediterranean (for example Nice). In summer, False Bay water averages slightly over 20 °C (68 °F), with 22 °C (72 °F) a common high. Beaches located on the Atlantic Coast tend to have very cold water due to the Benguela current which originates from the Southern Ocean, whilst the water at False Bay beaches may be warmer by up to 10 °C (18 °F) at the same moment due to the influence of the warm Agulhas current, and the surface warming effects of the South Easter wind.
Both coasts are equally popular, although the beaches in affluent Clifton and elsewhere on the Atlantic Coast are better developed with restaurants and cafés, with a particularly vibrant strip of restaurants and bars accessible to the beach at Camps Bay. Boulders Beach near Simon's Town is known for its colony of African Penguins.Surfing is popular and the city hosts the Red Bull Big Wave Africa surfing competition every year.

Take a tour of Cape Town Beaches in South Africa -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The South African city of Cape Town is reputed to have some of the most illustrious beaches in the world.
To accompany the great shores are the flamboyant and colorful beach cabins that add to the delightful personality of these beaches.
Cape Town is the site where the convergence of two oceans - The Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean takes place.
This unique feature creates two distinct styles of beach stemming from these two vastly different bodies of water.
For the hip and trendy, the Atlantic Ocean beaches are a must and those looking for solitude should head to the beaches on the side of the Indian Ocean.
Cape Town has earned many Blue Flag Beach honors due to the quality of water and cleanliness.

South Africa - Amazing CAPE TOWN! (1080p HD) | Magda T
Here is another video from our trip to South Africa and this time is The Mother City - Cape Town!
The city is probably one of the most beautiful places in the world we have visited so far. The best way to get around is by Uber and the food is simply outstanding and so cheap when compared to London or Hong Kong.
When it comes to fun and entertainment, Cape Town is the mother of all cities, and there’s no such thing as a dull moment when you’re there. There are truly amazing and breath-taking sights to see. Here are a few that we got a chance to visit.
• CLIFTON 0:58
Exclusive residential area with the most expensive real estate in South Africa. The main attractions are secluded beaches but be warned the water is absolutely freezing!
• VICTORIA & ALFRED WATERFRONT 1:37
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in the historic heart of Cape Town's working harbour is South Africa's most-visited destination, having the highest rate of foreign tourists of any attraction in the country. It offers a variety of shopping, restaurants and entertainment options for visitors.
• BO-KAAP 1:49
A little gem in Cape Town, which attracts many tourists who are trying to snap a picture of its brightly painted houses and cobbled streets.
• TABLE MOUNTAIN 2:17
Table Mountain is one of the official New Seven Wonders of Nature. You can get to the top of Cape Town’s most famous icon either by the cable car or hike. We hiked up there and took the aerial cableway down – experience not to be missed. From the top of Table Mountain, there are magnificent views of the Cape Town city centre, surrounding suburbs and the Atlantic Ocean. Landmarks in view include Cape Town Stadium, Robben Island and Camps Bay beach. And if you are lucky you can spot a Cape Dassie or two. (FYI - it's a rock badger)
• CAMPS BAY 4:22
With fine white sand beach and amazing views of the Twelve Apostles mountains the area draws crowds of tourist as well as locals. Behind the beach there many restaurants, cafes and cocktail bars overlooking the promenade.
My recommendation for food in the area is a seafood restaurant called ‘Codfather’ – you will need to make a reservation in advance though -
• KIRSTENBOSCH NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDENS 4:58
Kirstenbosch is the name of the famous botanical garden nestled at the foot of Table Mountain. There is a variety of plant life to see, and trails that lead off into the mountain slopes.
If relaxation and taking in the nature is more your thing, then a picnic basket and blanket is another option. Plus in the summer months concerts are held in this beautiful setting. Don’t miss the CentenaryTree Canopy Walkway!
• LION’S HEAD 6:08
It’s an amazing hike, relatively easy (if you aren’t afraid of heights) and not too long, and the view from the top is breath-taking. You can also experience paragliding which looked like so much fun!
• CHAPMAN’S PEAK DRIVE 7:26
Chapman’s Peak Drive is regarded as one of the world’s most scenic road trips, running 5.5 miles between Hout Bay and Noordhoek on Cape Town's western coast. With mountains rising up on one side and the Atlantic Ocean crashing below on the other, there is an incredible view at every curve—all 114 of them!
• BOULDERS BEACH 7:36
This sheltered beach is located in the Cape Peninsula. It is a popular attraction because of a colony of African Penguins (called Jackass Penguins) that settled there in 1982. These penguins can be observed at close range, and is definitely an experience to take back home. It is situated close to Simon’s Town and you can take a bus from Cape Town to get there or drive if you have a car.
• CAPE POINT 8:32
At the tip of the Cape Peninsula 60 km south-west of Cape Town, lies Cape Point, a nature reserve within the Table Mountain National Park - a declared Natural World Heritage Site. We drove there after visiting the Boulders Beach - beautiful coastline - you will not be let down!
• THE WINELANDS
A trip to these spectacular winelands is a must. I have posted another video about exploring the wine estates of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek -
