My favorite THINGS TO DO in Iceland::
► Reykjavik & Golden Circle
Iceland's capital city and home to 122,000 people. Reykjavik is the largest city in Iceland and most traveler's jumping off point for the Ring Road and Golden Circle.
The Golden Circle is a popular tourist driving route in southern Iceland, which covers about 300 kilometers looping from Reykjavík into the southern uplands of Iceland and back. There are many Golden Circle tours, but I would recommend doing this with a rental car. Featured attractions include Geysir, Blue Lagoon and Gullfoss waterfall.
One of my favorite things to do in Iceland in this region is the Reykjadalur Hot Springs - A beautiful and unique geothermal river near the town of Hveragerði. It takes about one hour to hike up to the hot springs, so be prepared.
► Central Highlands
► Northern Iceland
Eyjafjörður Fjord - One of the best places in Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Northern Iceland has very little light pollution, so tracking the Northern Lights over the Fjords is a great idea.
Ásbyrgi Canyon - This massive canyon was formed way back after the ice age as melting glacier floods ripped giant divots into the earth and left this beautiful valley and rock walls in its path.
Northern Lights - In order to have the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland, check out this website we used to track the cloud coverage and aurora activity.
Dettifoss Waterfall - Said to be Europe’s most powerful waterfall, and we’re getting a unique perspective - by moonlight.
► Western Iceland & Snæfellsnes Peninsula
Godafoss Waterfall - An expansive horseshoe-shaped cascade that’s probably my favorite waterfall of the entire trip.
► Eastern Iceland
Hverir or Namafjall geothermal field - Located in northeastern Iceland around the geothermal region of Lake Mývatn - a vast area of hot springs, sulfur crystals, and boiling mud pots.
► Southern Iceland
Seljalandsfoss - A popular waterfall in South Iceland, and the only waterfall (that I know of) in Iceland that you can walk behind.
Skogafoss - Massive curtain waterfall with a drop of 60 meters and a width of 25 meters, also in Southern Iceland.
Reynisfjara - Incredible black sand beach near Vik with basalt sea stacks to one side and rock formations jetting out of the ocean. Get here early to really appreciate it.

In the second episode of Circling Iceland we use our house in Nollur as a base to explore all the things to do in North Iceland starting with the Godafoss Waterfall. Luckily the weather was with us and we got lucky to see the Northern Lights right in front of our house - instead of sleeping we spent several hours in front of our house in total awe.
On our second day in the north we drove to Myvatn, Dettifoss and then all the way down to Bragdavellir where we moved into our next Apartment to explore sights in the east like the Hengifoss waterfall.
In the next episode we will show you the most popular sights in the south, including glaciers, waterfalls, impressive canyons but also some lesser known spots.
Traveling Icelands Ring Road is the perfect way to get to know the country on and off the tourist paths. Therefore we took about 2 weeks to get to know Iceland properly by exploring waterfalls, canyons, hot springs, glacier caves, black beaches and of course the stunning coastlines all around the island finishing off in Reykjavik with the countries biggest music festival called „Iceland Airwaves“
We’ll show you which places to visit & our favorite things to do in Iceland in the upcoming videos and how to plan & organize your very own road trip in Iceland. Make sure to subscribe & activate notification to not miss any episode!

Iceland has always been a dream destination of mine due its impressive, dramatic landscape - rough and incredibly beautiful at the same time. With its volcanoes, geysers and geothermal hot springs and its many waterfalls as well as glaciers it truly is the often claimed land of fire and ice.

Iceland travel: Krafla lava field and Viti crater
Support our channel :
Krafla lava fields and crater are located 6km east of Lake Myvatn on Route 1. Take the left turn towards Krafla and drive past the geothermal power plant into the first parking area. This area is is included in all Iceland tours of the Mývatn District (Iceland's Northeast Region).
This volcanic area is stunning and Viti crater lake is really beautiful crater lake.
A walk around the craters takes just a couple of minutes and the sulfuric fields can be watched from just a few meters. The geothermal activity of the earth can be seen in the smoke emitting from the boiling pools, the smoking lava rocks. The landscape is an expanse of lava rock with multi colours of rock where the thermal pools are emanating smoke, yellow sulphur sediments, red maybe iron or copper. The pools have a very beautiful tinge of emerald. Its quite a walk to see the lava fields area and the pathways are well laid out. Its like a natural sauna from the smoke from the steaming rocks. It’s definitely part of the list of the beautiful places to see in the world.
Many other geological and thermal sights are nearby (Námafjall, Myvatn Nature Baths, Hverarond).
This video was done with GoPro camera.
