Norton St Philip is a village and civil parish in the Mendip district of Somerset, England. The village lies about 5 1⁄2 miles south of the city of Bath and 5 miles north of the town of Frome. New development greatly increased the size of the village in the later 20th century, but there has been a significant reduction in services, with the police station, post office and shops all having closed. This was partly reversed by the opening of a new supermarket, incorporating a post office, in 2016.

1. Farleigh Hungerford Castle Norton St Philip
Farleigh Hungerford is a village within the civil parish of Norton St Philip in the Mendip district, in Somerset, England, 9 miles southeast of Bath, 3½ miles west of Trowbridge on A366, in the valley of the River Frome. Within this small village are the notable ruins of Farleigh Hungerford Castle, which played a significant part in the English Civil War. Evidence has also been found of occupation during Roman times; the foundations of a villa were excavated in a field just north west of the castle in 1822. From 1985 to 2010 the village was the venue for the annual Trowbridge Village Pump Festival.

The Horton Mine: Encountering a Ghost in a Haunted, Abandoned Mine (Summer 2013)
I had a startling encounter with the supernatural while exploring the abandoned Horton Mine located near the massive Victorine Mine in Nevada. The Horton Mine dates back to the mid-1800s. I have been inside over a hundred abandoned mines, but this one was definitely the creepiest. As I ventured hesitantly down the tunnel, it felt more and more wrong. You'll see in the video the supernatural occurrence that caused me to ultimately turn around and head back out of the tunnel.#ExploringAbandonedMines

Battle of Hastings 1066 Site - Battle, England, United Kingdom
On October 14, 1066, the armies of Duke William II of Normandy (William the Conqueror) and Anglo-Saxon King Harold II met on a field about seven miles northwest of Hastings. The Normans won a decisive victory in what became known as the Battle of Hastings. Harold was killed in this battle, paving the way for the Norman's conquest of England.After the conquest, William founded a monastery at the battle site. The abbey church was completed in 1094. The church's high altar was situated at the site where tradition holds that Harold was killed. The church was destroyed with the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and the land and surviving buildings went into private ownership.
Today, the Battle of Hastings battlefield and Battle Abbey grounds are an English Heritage Site. Visitors can tour the battlefield grounds and explore a number of the ancient abbey's buildings. However the abbey's Great Hall is now home to Battle Abbey School and is generally off limits to the public.
The village of Battle grew up around the abbey. It is directly accessed by train, making for a nice day trip from London.
