Despite being home to the largest winery in the world, the unemployment rate was nearly 13% in 2014. Modesto ranks number one in the country for car theft and out of 200,000 residents, up to 10,000 are reported to be gang members.
9. Oakland, California
The economy in Oakland is strong with a good median household income. ($51,683.) However, home to around 50 gangs and a high violent crime rate, Oakland also suffers from high traffic congestion and poor air quality. 190% worse than the national average.
8. New Orleans, Louisiana
The “murder capital of the country, also has one of the worst toxic-substance records. New Orleans has still not recovered from Hurricane Katrina, and was ranked number two in “America’s Dirtiest Cities.”

California to New York: A Complete Road Trip
This is a complete road trip compilation from Santa Monica, California to New York City over eight different days from June-September, 2017 - all recorded in time-lapse at 4fps (nearly 100,000 frames total). Of the 3,253 miles (5,235 kilometers) driven, about 3 miles of this drive is missing, mostly in Colorado near Poncha Springs. Nearly all of this drive was done in daytime, but there is about 10 minutes of this video done in darkness in Arizona (about 1:00:00 to 1:10:00). The weather was good for the most part, except from Pennsylvania all the way to the Bronx, before clearing up in Manhattan. This trip also includes driving through the solar eclipse of August 21 in Nebraska (at about 3:30:00), as well as driving over the old Tappan Zee Bridge in upstate NY, which permanently closed a month later with the opening of the new Mario M Cuomo Bridge adjacent to it.

The hottest temperature of this trip was 110 F (43 C) in Needles, California (about 0:40:16), and the coldest temperature of this trip was 53 F (11 C) in Tusayan, Arizona (about 1:10:04) - only about 230 miles (370 km) from Needles.

Tampa Bay Florida to Poplar Bluff Missouri. For the Trucks Gone Wild event. The drive is nearly 1000 miles. Completed in my antique 1995 Ford Escort wagon, taking interstate I-75 all the way through Georgia to Chattanooga Tennessee, where you can see lookout mountain from the interstate. Where I then took interstate 24 west across Kentucky Where I got re routed by google off the interstate on to some back country roads and almost ran out of gas until I found Duff's Market, where I gassed up then made my way into the southern most tip of Illinois, after crossing over the Ohio River I Approach a small old River town called Cairo. ,I found out this Ghost town once had a population of over 15k now only has 2300. This town was torn apart by racism, and the construction of a railroad bridge. It once was a through way of the underground railroad and freed slaves after the civil war was over.

There are many reasons why San Francisco continuously rates as one of the most liveable cities in the USA. For starters, its residents retain a relationship between materialism and money on the one hand and cutting-edge thought, innovation and progressive politics on the other. Its relatively manageable size, aesthetics and high standards don't hurt its reputation too much either.
This dualism in San Francisco is played out in almost all facets of society: from eating, drinking and socialising to art and design, music and culture, landscape and architecture. The reward for unleashing this creative and freethinking beast on everyday activity is a dynamic lifestyle on par with New York and societal norms that are streets ahead of most other cities in the country.
Granted, the discerning attitudes towards everything from dining out to theatre productions have garnered accusations of elitism -- the city topped a recent high-profile list of 'America's Snobbiest Cities', but there are worse crimes than having high standards, especially when those standards come not from conservative old money, but from a young, socially responsible population that just expects more than light beer and nights in watching America's Got Talent.
