Museo del Corallo Torre del Greco

un breve videoclip sul museo annesso all'ex scuola della lavorazione del corallo di Torre del Greco. Esposti manufatti realizzati dagli studenti che dal 1878 hanno affollato i laboratori della scuola e pezzi pregiati provenenti da donazioni o da acquisizioni su altri mercati.

L’Istituto Statale d’Arte, ora Liceo Artistico di Torre del Greco è uno dei più antichi d’Italia: la “Scuola per la lavorazione del Corallo” fu infatti istituita con Regio Decreto del 23 giugno 1878. Nel 1968 divenne Istituto Statale d’Arte e nel 2009 è stato aggregato all’Istituto d’Istruzione Superiore “Francesco Degni” di Torre del Greco.

La scuola è ospitata sin dalle sue origini nel barocco convento annesso alla chiesa del Carmine. Ricostruito nella seconda metà del Seicento dopo che l’eruzione del 1631 aveva distrutto l’originario edificio cinquecentesco, è una delle poche strutture sopravvissute alle devastanti eruzioni che nel 1737 e nel 1794 seppellirono buona parte della città.
Il complesso, recentemente restaurato, si articola intorno all’antico chiostro e ospita al primo piano, oltre ad ambienti riccamente decorati in stucco, il Museo del Corallo, inaugurato il 3 aprile 1933 col contributo del Banco di Napoli, dello Stato e delle Pubbliche Amministrazioni.

The Art Institute of Torre del Greco is one of the oldest in Italy: The School for handcrafting Coral was instituted by Royal Decree on the 23rd of June, 1878. In 1968 it became a public art institute and in 2009 was aggregated at the Institute of Higher Education Francesco Degni of Torre del Greco.
The school is still located in the Baroque convent which adjoins the Carmine Church. It was rebuilt in the late seventeenth century after the eruption of 1631 destroyed the original sixteenth-century building. It is one of the few structures that survived the devastating eruptions in 1737 and 1794, which buried much of the town.
The complex, recently renovated is structured around the ancient monastery and is home to the first floor, where there are rooms richly decorated in stucco and the Coral Museum, which opened April 3rd, 1933 with the contribution of the Bank of Naples, the State and Public Administration.

The fruit of the life / Həyat Meyvəsi

The pomegranate is one of the first trees cultivated by man: the charm and intense life of its flowers, the almost magical properties of its tasty fruits.
The magical fruit accompanied the body of pharaohs in burial: this round fruit is a symbol of longevity because the plant from which it originates can live can live 100 years. Perhaps for this reason the Babylonian warrios chewed its beans before going into battle, to be unconquerable?
The pomegranate is an ancient plant. Its path is parallel to that of the man. Between five and two million years ago it appeared in areas where it still live spontaneously, Between Caucasus and the so-called “Fertile Crescent” and – strange coincidence – the same time when the anthropomorphous apes and our hominid ancestors moving the first steps.
Already 4000 years before Christ, it was one of the first trees cultivated by Neolithic man from Mediterranean to India.The pomegranate has always been considered the most precious of fruit in Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia, where it’s a sacred plant, a symbol of ardent love, wealth and fertility. It even says that in the Eden garden it was the real tree of knowledge, not the apple.
It was spread throughout the Mediterranean by Phoenicians and today it is cultivated all over the world, from China to India, from Iran to United States of America, far as Australia! But from the first millennium before Christ, its ancestral cradle and one of the most important centers of production is in Azerbaijan.
It is a bushy shrub up to 4 metres high that has showy red flowers and that adapts to many soils, including dry and resists the itense heat up to temperature of ten degees below zero.The uptake and quality to adapt to different soils and climate make it a plant with a large genetic variability with about 500 different “cultivars” of which 50 varieties are edible. Some of these have soft seeds, more tender chew. The pomegranate has given its name to many things: the “grenadine”, the city of Granada, the legendary Grenadiers of Sardinia, a type of hand grenade reminiscent of the fruit and its interior. Each fruit contains about 600 juicy grains, rich in vitamin C, polyphenols, anthocyanins and resveratrol. The juice is richer in antioxidants than wine, is a natural antibiotic and can fight the tumor.

Il fascino intenso e vitale dei suoi fiori, le proprietà quasi magiche dei suoi frutti gustosi:
il melograno è uno dei primi alberi coltivati dall’uomo… I suoi frutti magici accompagnavano il corpo dei faraoni nella sepoltura: quel frutto rotondo è simbolo di longevità in quanto la pianta da cui origina può vivere anche 100 anni. Il suo percorso è parallelo a quello dell’uomo. Comparve tra cinque e due milioni di anni fa nelle stesse zone dove ancora oggi vive spontaneo, tra il Caucaso e la cosiddetta “mezzaluna fertile” e – coincidenza singolare – nello stesso periodo in cui muovevano i primi passi le scimmie antropomorfe e i nostri antenati ominidi. E’ uno dei primi alberi coltivati dall’uomo neolitico dal Mediterraneo all’India già 4000 anni prima di Cristo. Perché si è così diffusa? Un arbusto cespuglioso alto fino a 4 metri dai rossi fiori vistosi che si adatta a molti terreni, anche aridi e sopporta dal caldo intenso fino a temperature di 10 gradi sotto lo zero; le qualità di adattamento a terreni e climi differenti ne fanno una pianta con una grande variabilità genetica con circa 500 “cultivar” diversi di cui 50 varietà sono commestibili. Alcune di queste hanno il seme morbido, più tenero da masticare. Ogni frutto contiene circa 600 chicchi succosi, ricchi di vitamina C, polifenoli, antociani e resveratrolo. Il succo è più ricco di antiossidanti del vino, è un antibiotico naturale e contrasta il tumore La coltivazione oggi si va diffondendo sempre più anche nel centro e nel sud dell’Italia, affiancando o sostituendo spesso la vite nelle produzioni agricole di maggior pregio.
A giugno c’è la fioritura e dalla terza settimana di ottobre alla seconda di dicembre avviene la maturazione e la raccolta, con l’apice ad Ognissanti. In Italia è Palmariggi in Salento la città più importante del melograno, alla fine di ottobre si festeggia la raccolta al suono della “pizzica”. Le vie del paese si animano fino a notte fonda.
Ma l’ evento più spettacolare, che corona il ciclo annuale di questa meravigliosa pianta è il festival del melograno che si tiene ogni anno a Goychay in Azerbaijan. E’ l’occasione per feste, danze e musiche tradizionali e per gustare i piatti tipici della gastronomia azera e mediorientale, molto spesso a base di melagrana.

Over the centuries, the coral reefs have been exploited to collect what is known as the red gold. Its growth was slow rhythms, 4 cm. every 20 years. E 'sensitive to thermal anomalies. It feeds on plankton through the transparent white polyps and equipped with eight tentacles. In the depths of the Marine Protected Area of Portofino (Liguria), always rich in corals and sea fans, the presence of red gold is also increasing in size.

Nei secoli, i banchi di corallo sono stati sfruttati per raccogliere quello che è conosciuto come l’oro rosso. La sua crescita ha dei ritmi lentissimi, 4 cm. ogni 20 anni. E’ sensibile alle anomalie termiche. Si nutre di plancton attraverso i polipi bianchi e trasparenti forniti di 8 tentacoli. Nei fondali dell’Area Marina Protetta di Portofino (Liguria), da sempre ricchi di coralli e gorgonie, la presenza dell’oro rosso sta aumentando anche nelle dimensioni.
