New Zealand Travel Diary: Day 2 in Porirua

- Had our breakfast at Cobham Court Farmers Market and Porirua Saturday Morning Market, where we had yummy kebabs and roti
- Heeded the locals' recommendations and paid a visit to Paraparaumu (instead of hiking at Spinnaker Summit Lookout)
- Rested over delicious vegan desserts at Raw Planet
- Attempted to take grad shots at Whitireia Park but it was too windy
- Had our dinner at Wellington Night Market - the best night life we've experienced!

30 minutes train or car trip to Wellington or Paraparaumu. 20 minutes drive to Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt.

10 minutes drive to Porirua city with it's many attractions including the Pataka Museum and Te Rauparaha arena, Aquatic centre and shopping mall.

Play a round at one of 2 golf courses and view the wildlife at the Pauatahanui Inlet wildlife reserve.

There are many great swimming beaches and it is a boaters paradise with the inlet and open water close by.

Transmission Gully motorway fly-through

The Transmission Gully Project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project to build a 27-km four-lane (two in each direction) motorway from Mackays to Linden (through Transmission Gully). There will be interchanges connecting the route to Mackays, State Highway 58, eastern Porirua and Kenepuru. The link to eastern Porirua will provide connecting roads to Whitby and Waitangirua. The Porirua City Council will be the authority responsible for those connecting roads.
