Pella is a comune in the Province of Novara in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 100 kilometres northeast of Turin and about 45 kilometres northwest of Novara on the Lake Orta. It borders the municipalities of Cesara, Madonna del Sasso, Nonio, Orta San Giulio, Pettenasco, and San Maurizio d'Opaglio.

Lake Orta is a lake in northern Italy, west of Lake Maggiore. It has been so named since the 16th century, but was previously called the Lago di San Giulio, after Saint Julius , the patron saint of the region. Its southern end is about 35 kilometres by rail, to the northwest of Novara on the main Turin-Milan line, while its north end is about 6 kilometres by rail south of the Gravellona-Toce railway station, halfway between Ornavasso and Omegna. Its scenery is characteristically Italian, while the San Giulio island has some very picturesque buildings, and takes its name from the local saint, who lived in the 4th century. Orta San Giulio is a town and comune in the Province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 100 kilometres northeast of Turin and about 40 kilometres northwest of Novara. The town itself is built on a promontory which juts out from the eastern bank of Lake Orta close to Isola San Giulio, an island which also falls within the municipal boundaries. The frazione Legro stands on the hill which rises behind the promontory, Corconio is some 2 kilometres further south, and again away from the lake, while Imola consists of a small number of dwellings between the two, but close to the lake on the road leading to Gozzano. Among the corners of Piedmont of the most exciting poem, Lake Orta is certainly the most romantic mirror of water in Italy. Set between rolling hills and green mountains, it stretches from north to south, from the slopes of Mottarone to the extreme north of the Novara plain. Framed by a handful of picturesque villages, some of which leaned along its banks, others higher up on the heights. The village of Orta is indisputably the pearl, overlooking the island of San Giulio dominated by the Benedictine abbey and not by chance defined the island of silence.

Tra gli angoli di Piemonte di più emozionante poesia, il Lago d'Orta è sicuramente lo specchio d'acqua più romantico d'Italia. Incastonato tra dolci colline e il verde dei monti, si allunga da nord a sud, dalle pendici del Mottarone all'estremo nord della pianura novarese. Gli fanno da cornice una manciata di pittoreschi borghi, di cui alcuni appoggiati lungo le sue sponde, altri più in alto, sulle alture. Il borgo di Orta è indiscutibilmente la perla, affacciato sull'isola di San Giulio dominata dall'abbazia benedettina e non a caso definito l'isola del silenzio.

Veria Archaeological Museum
The museum includes collections of Hellenistic and Roman sculpture (funerary reliefs, funerary and honorary altars, portraits, table supports, statues) from the city of Veroia and other sites of the district, Hellenistic pottery and figurines from the cemeteries of Veroia, Hellenistic and Roman architectural parts (columns, bases, capitals etc.) exhibited in the courtyard, inscriptions from Veroia and the adjacent areas.

The most important exhibits of the museum are:
Red-figure bell crater (Kertsch style). The front view bears a representation of the iconographic cycle of Aphrodite and Dionysos. Dated to the middle of the 4th century BC.
Bronze hydria-calpis used as a funerary urn in a cist-grave at Veroia. Dated to 370-360 BC.
Medusa head. Large head of the mythical Medusa, which was attached to the north-east gate of the fortification walls of Veroia. It was an apotropaic symbol, used to discourage and frighten the city attackers. Dated to the first half of the 2nd century BC.
Funerary stele of Paterinos. Tall, palmette relief stele depicting the dead Paterinos, son of Antigonos, standing in the middle of the panel. It is a good specimen of the local sculpture workshop, dated to the end of the 2nd century BC.
Gold jewellery from a female burial. Pair of gold earrings, a gold ring and a necklace made of gold and cornelian rings. Dated to the 2nd century BC.
Law concerning the Gymnasium. A remarkable inscription recording the rules of the Gymnasium of Veroia. The preserved text refers to the obligations of the youths practicing in the Gymnasium. Dated to the first half of the 2nd century BC.
Bust of Olganos from Kopanos, near Naoussa. Protome of the river-god Olganos, son of the mythical Veretos and brother of Mieza and Veroia. This elegant statue is dated to the second half of the 2nd century AD.
Marble table support (trapezophoron). It bears the relief representation of Zeus, transformed into an eagle, abducting Ganymedes. Dated to the 2nd century AD.
