Skyline Drive is a 105-mile road that runs the entire length of the National Park Service's Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, generally along the ridge of the mountains. The drive's northern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 340 near Front Royal, and the southern terminus is at an interchange with US 250 near Interstate 64 in Rockfish Gap, where the road continues south as the Blue Ridge Parkway. Works Progress Administration (WPA) projects in West Virginia. The Tri-County Airport at Clarksburg is graded. Streets in Morgantown are repaired. Shows remodeled buildings at Marshall College in Huntington, WPA sewing room activities, and nursery school scenes. County roads are graded and resurfaced near Helvetia. Shows mountain scenes, a fish hatchery at Ridge, and a new bridge at Charleston. Flood waters rage in 1936. Shows a new bridge at Petersburg and rebuilt flood walls and dikes. Activities on a cooperative farm in Mercer County are shown. Orphans play and swim at Camp Fairchance.

20th of Nov 2015 Road trip to Virginia Beach

We left Washington DC for further south and hopefully warmer times. On the way we stopped to look at a cotton field and picked some cotton to have a look. We also crossed a couple of huge causeway bridges and a 1.7 mile tunnel under the ocean across Chesapeake Bay. They don't stuff around with little bridges and tunnels in the USA, they build them big! Virginia Beach KOA was nice and I was able to go into the woods nearby and find a couple of big fallen logs that I cut with our small handsaw and bring back to camp for a real decent fire to keep us warm.
