IN THIS VIDEO...
Valle Vidal is located in far northern New Mexico. The Valle Vidal Unit of Carson National Forest is 101,794-acres in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Today we are hiking the large valley itself. We park at the corrals by Forest Road 1950. Our route takes us south-southwest through the double gate in the fence and across the huge valley. Bill wants a higher vantage point to look for wildlife, so we go up on top of a rise. From the rise we see a cut back to the west. After walking along Vidal Creek for a ways a most picturesque cabin comes into view.
The shade of the log cabin makes a nice place to enjoy the lunch we packed.
Wanting to see new territory, we follow a small dirt road northward. The road starts to go more to the west and we need to go more to the east. We decide if we can find any sort of path back to the east we will take it. We're in luck! There is a cut in the mountains back to toward the east. The path runs alongside a lovely stream called Grassy Creek.
It's a fairly narrow cut with thick forest on the other side of the creek and it feels a little bear-ish, so I put on my bear bell.
Fortunately, the cut opens out into the big valley in the perfect place for us to cross the valley and return to Ike in the parking area.
A Quick Flashback...
This morning we saw a LlamaAdventures.com rig in the parking lot by the corrals. Thirteen years ago we went on a Llama Adventures hike in the Latir Peak Wilderness of New Mexico. Could this be Stuart's rig in Valle Vidal today?
Much to our pleasant surprise when we made it back to the parking lot, there was Stuart! What are the odds?! We had a nice visit. We'll put a link to LlamaAdventures.com in the description below.
The pleasant surprises continue... How cool is this!?... Back in camp, on the table is a note... Dear Wobbly Otters. Subscribe to your UTube channel. Love it. Live in Texas. Sorry we missed you. Tyson & Pam.
Thank you Tyson & Pam!

Trinidad, Cuba Travel
Trinidad, Cuba Travel - Trinidad (Spanish pronunciation: [tɾiniˈðað]) is a town in the province of Sancti Spíritus, central Cuba. Together with the nearby Valle de los Ingenios, it has been one of UNESCOs World Heritage sites since 1988. Trinidad was founded on December 23, 1514[1] by Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar under the name Villa de la Santísima Trinidad.[4] Francisco Iznaga, a rich Basque landowner in the southern portion of Cuba during the first 30 years of the colonization of Cuba, was elected Mayor of Bayamo in 1540. Iznaga was the originator of a powerful lineage that finally settled in Trinidad where the Torre Iznaga is. His descendents fought for the Independence of Cuba and the Annexation to the US from 1820 to 1900. It is one of the best preserved cities in the Caribbean from the time when the sugar trade was the main industry in the region.
