Durmitor National Park, Montenegro
Durmitor National Park is one of the most beautiful places in the Balkans. The Park is located at wide mountain region in North West of Montenegro. The National Park of Durmitor spreads across 39000 hectares and includes 78 kilometers of canyon of the Tara with altitude of 1300 meters above level of the River. Canyon of Tara is the largest in Europe and has over 1500 kinds of flora and 163 kinds of birds. Djurdjevica Tara Bridge is a symbol of river Tara canyon. It is build from 1937 until 1940; 365 meters long and is 172 meters high. Special beauty is in its arches, from which the longest one is 116m stretched. Town of Žabljak is situated in the heart of Durmitor region, at the altitude of 1456 meters, what makes it the highest urban conglomerate in the Balkans. There are 18 gorgeous glacial lakes called “mountain eyes” in the area of Durmitor National Park. The most famous is the Black Lake, 3 km away from center of Žabljak town. Black Lake is the biggest and the deepest of the 18 glacier lakes of Durmitor Mountain. Located at the foot of the mountain Medjed, this lake consists of two smaller lakes, whose depth of the highest wather marks are 24,5 m and 49,1 m. Those 2 lakes are connected by a narrow strait, that dries in summer time, creating 2 completely separate lakes. There is a 4km walking track around the edge of the lake. It's an easy path through the forest and there are lots of places to stop for picnic and to enjoy the view. Zminje lake is one of the Durmitor lakes. Hidden in the depths of the forest, in the stillness, this place is created for meditation. The altitude of the Zminje lake is 1.520m, and its greatest depth is 7,7m. It is surrounded by a dense forest of spruce and other conifers, and is located at the spring of Mlinski Creek. There are 748 springs of pure mountain water within Durmitor National Park and forests in which trees are over 100 years old. Bobotov kuk is the highest peak of Durmitor Mountain (2525 meters high). Tracking, mountaineering, Alpine and Nordic skiing, rafting on Tara river, fishing and camping are ways of recreation that are done in the Park. The breathtaking Durmitor National Park is truly exquisite in terms of its diversities which for its favorable climatic conditions and specific reflection of mountain lakes, breathtaking canyons and blossoming meadows provide unforgettable experience and impressions to every visitor.

Balkans Road Trip. #6 Sedlo Pass in April [Montenegro. Drivelapse]
April 23, 2018
Attempt to drive Sedlo Pass (Prevoj Sedlo) in April
Prevoj Sedlo is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.907m (6,256ft) above the sea level, located in the Durmitor, a massif and the name of a national park in northwestern Montenegro.
The road over the pass links the municipalities of Žabljak and Plužine. It’s one of the most spectacular roads in Montenegro. On the summit there are fantastic views on both sides, with a nice panorama of the Valovito Jezero lake and the sharp rock of Stožina (1,905 m).
The road is winding, in some places only wide enough for one vehicle and unprotected by guardrails. It’s the highest paved mountain pass in the country. The road, althoug narrow, is completely paved now and when you travel off-season, the silence – and beauty – of nature is absolute. It's called P14.
The road winds up steeply through a labyrinth of small tunnels. Road is mostly cut into the rock face, there are numerous switchback corners, numerous tunnels and few intersections. Now, combine those elements and you end up with crazy combo. Hairpin trough a tunnel with intersection somewhere in the middle of it all.

TRAVELcandies On Tour - MONTENEGRO [4K]
Montenegro is the first candy, with which we wanna open our brand new Youtube Channel.
We've spent 14 days in Montenegro, mostly offroad with our JEEP Wrangler and captured some of the most stunning places inside this absolutely beautiful country.
It's still a bit undeveloped and very calm which is great. You won't find many tourism here. The people who lives there, are quite shy, curious, but very hospitable and friendly.
We learned to love that small country and for sure we can tell, that it's under our TOP 5 in europe.
Must-See's:
Durmitor National Park (43° 6'6.93N, 19° 0'53.66E)
Kuck Mountains (42°33'59.81N, 19°33'41.20E)
Risan Bay (42°26'13.10N, 18°40'27.93E)
Tara River at Pluzine (43°10'6.10N, 18°51'18.00E)
Curevac Canyon (43°12'4.04N, 19° 5'34.37E)
Tara River Canyon (43° 9'1.12N, 19°17'42.87E)
Tara River (-bed) (43°12'54.65N, 19° 6'29.94E)
TIPP: For the Tara Riverbed you'll need to drive down to Tepca, which takes a while, but then you'll enter the montenegrian paradise, coz everything is of absolutely beauty.
If you'll drive along the road until it's end, you can directly camp at the riverbed. It may be, that a hotel owner will visit you. He just asks for a very small fee...but it's definitely worth it :)
(The road is a gravel road, so accessbile by a standard car, a SUV or bigger - which is always better ;)

Balkans Road Trip. #5 Piva Canyon Road. Mratinje Dam
April 23, 2018
Šćepan Polje - Plužine (26km)
Piva Canyon Road is a very scenic drive, part of the European route E 762, in the southwest of Montenegro near the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The road is asphalted and still remains an adrenaline-pumping journey, following the Piva Canyon, cut between the mountains of Bioč, Volujak, Maglić and Pivska planina. The road's winding design, providing stunning panoramic views, is very curvy and fun for a leisurely ride, so it pays to take it slow. The canyon is 33 km long, deep up to 1.200 m, in the Piva, one of few most spectacular rivers in Montenegro.
The road encompasses miles of stunning views through twisty hair pin corners, high elevations and steep grades. The road goes through many rocky tunnels through the rocks of the canyon, near the lake.
The asphalted road, also known as M18, runs along the Lake Piva reservoir, the second largest lake in Montenegro. It’s the result of the construction of the Mratinje Dam on the Piva River in 1975. The dam is 220m (720 ft) high, and therefore one of the highest in Europe and the view from the top is astonishing.
