A day in Polignano a Mare, located in the region of Puglia, southeastern Italy. Polignano a Mare is a picturesque place, very suitable for a day trip around Bari. The town is popular with its breathtaking Lama Monachille ( Cala Porto ) bay and beach. Other highlights: the lively Piazza Aldo Moro, the beautiful old town with tiny alleys, many cafes, several squares and spots for panoramic views. Polignano is a birthplace of the famous singer and actor Domenico Modugno ( song: Volare ) and there is a statue of him that attracts many visitors.

Puglia is a region of Italy in Southern Italy bordering the Adriatic Sea to the east, the Ionian Sea to the southeast, and the Strait of Òtranto and Gulf of Taranto to the south. Its southernmost portion, known as the Salento peninsula, forms a stiletto heel on the boot of Italy.
After spending my holidays in Puglia, I can confirm this is one the best places to visit in Italy and one of the best travel destinations in the world. This video is a short trip guide showing cities like Bari, Polignano a Mare, #Alberobello, Ostuni and #Matera.
The trulli of Alberobello have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996.
The Old Town is Ostuni's citadel built on top of a hill and still fortified by the ancient walls. Ostuni is commonly referred to as the White Town (La Città Bianca in Italian) for its white walls and its typically white-painted architecture.
Matera, known as la Città Sotterranea (the Subterranean City), its historical center Sassi, along with the Park of the Rupestrian Churches, is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993.
On 17 October 2014, Matera was declared Italian host of European Capital of Culture for 2019. This is also where the movie The Passion of the Christ was filmed.
