Top 10 Nightlife in Phuket Thailand
Top 10 Nightlife in Phuket Thailand
1 Soi Bangla
Stroll along Bangla Road at round midnight and you’ll wonder if you’re an extra in a phantasmagorical movie or not. Anything goes along Bangla and that includes boys that love girls who love girls who are boys, ping pong shows without a table-tennis paddle, clubs with pounding beats. Taken with a sense of humour it’s a barrel of laughs.
2 Siam Niramit Phuket
Siam Niramit Phuket is a tastefully done cultural extravaganza that adds variety and vitality to the island’s entertainment scene. Perfectly located just off the By-Pass Road in the outskirts of Phuket Town, it is set in prime lakeside land.
3 Dino Park Mini Golf
Dino Park is a mini-golf course and restaurant located right in between Karon and Kata beaches on the Beach Road itself. The 18-hole course is themed on dinosaurs and has many large and life-like cement dino statues, along with an erupting ‘volcano’ as well as a Flintstones-themed restaurant.
4 Night Clubs
The biggest clubbing names in Patong are Famous, Seduction, The Factory and Beach Road’s Banana. Big-name DJs occasionally drop by such as David Morales, DJ Bert Bevans, Judge Jools and Thailand’s very own Nakadia to rock these places but at the end of the day (literally) many clubs in Patong are glorified pickup joints.
5 Beach Clubs
Beach clubs are the latest hot trend in Phuket; and a simple yet complex recipe with the right mix of ingredients is required to guarantee success.
6 Sunset Bars
High on Kata Hill overlooking Kata Noi Beach you’ll find three very similar bars called After Beach, Small Viewpoint and Baan Chom.
7 Simon Cabaret
If you’re into sequins, heavy makeup and boys who look more like girls than girls do, Simon Cabaret is the place for you. A Phuket institution, it started out in a single shop-house and has grown exponentially over the years into its presentday form as a transvestite/transgender extravaganza.
8 Phuket FantaSea
An intoxicating blend of legend, myth, imagination and pure show business with a twist of history thrown in to make the final result even spicier, Phuket FantaSea is a heady brew that fascinates visitors to Phuket.
9 Live Music
Again, Patong is the centre of live music on the island with Rock City hosting heavy metal tribute bands, Tai Pan, cover bands and Margarita’s mixing sports coverage with live music. In Phuket Town the places to head to are Rockin’Angels and Timber Hut – both along Yaowarat Road.
10 Thai Boxing
Often exhilarating and always riveting, Muay Thai - or Thai Boxing - is the most intensive body contact sport in the world. Patong has two Thai boxing venues, one on Soi Sai Namyen that has shows every Monday and Thursday and at Bangla Boxing Stadium behind Jungceylon which features fights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The Western guy who didn't pay his bill.
Be aware that in Thailand there are some rip off bars (ping pong shows usually at Patpong in Bangkok, and Bangla Road in Phuket). There is also a chance that your bar bill might be padded especially at some gogo bars if you are intoxicated and buying a lot of lady drinks for the dancers.
The simplest advice I can give if you want to see a 'ping pong' show is don't trust the touts who will say anything to get you through the door. Ping pong shows at bangla road are around 900 baht for the cheapest drink as the show is included in the price. Patpong in Bangkok is even worse and read the latest trip adviser posts to see for yourself. If you do go to a show then make sure to confirm the price 'before' you order.
As for having your bar bill padded if you are drinking with friends then make sure to each have your own bill. It can be very easy to lose track of a communal drinks bill if you are in a group buying rounds including lady drinks. You can pay each drink as they come but usually you'll be considered a cheap charlie by doing this.
As for the guy in the video there is a saying that applies here, and it is 'pay and walk.' If your bar bill is incorrect then for sure argue your case on the premises, but if you are getting nowhere fast then my advice is to just 'pay and walk.'
Yes, you will lose a bit of money, but it's much better to be 1000 baht or so lighter in the wallet then end up in a police station for hours. Even worse still you could end up in hospital where you will certainly have to pay more and lose a lot of time there.
The thing is, if you are on your own like the guy in the video it's your word against theirs, and eventually you will have to pay the bill anyway along with a bill for the police's time if you visit the station.
I'm not condoning what happened to the guy, off camera he physically pushed the staff out of the way when he made a run for it, and that resulted in him being roughed up a little.
Thailand is not the Western world, and the police are almost always going to side with the local establishments. It can be hard if you've had a few drinks, but my advice is to throw your pride and ego out of the window, pay up and chalk it down to experience.
I've had personal experience of this kind of thing, and it's just not worth ruining your night/holiday over a dodgy drinks bill. Just 'pay and walk.'
I have a friend who took it all the way with the cops and they nearly ended up in the prison from hell as they didn't have their passport on them and nobody to courier it to the police station. It's just not worth the aggro, plus it usually takes 2-3 hours for an incident to be processed at a station.
'Pay and walk,' and that applies pretty much to every country in South East Asia.
Bangla Road is the centre of nightlife for the popular holiday destination of Phuket.
It's a great place for bar hopping, with many regular bars, beer bars, gogo bars, live music bars and nightclubs all on one street!

Bangla Road really comes to life once the sun sets. The road is closed to vehicle traffic and becomes a 400 metre festival of neon lights, loud music, cheap beer and sexy girls. Jammed most nights of the year, it is quite a friendly and lively place to walk around as bars and clubs compete with each other for customers. If you’re looking for a fun night out in Phuket, Bangla Road should be your first (and, often, only) stop. Almost all of the bars are outdoors, so the music from each one blends into a deafening mess of sound. Beer bars occupy most of the street’s length, with several go-go bars and a few pubs, restaurants, discos and shops rounding out the attractions, both on Soi Bangla and down its side streets. Street performances are also common most nights, which can make dodging around the tailor shop salesmen, leaflet distributors, street vendors and ping pong show touts more difficult, but it is all part of the fun.
