Espiritu Santo Island Vanuatu | Blue Lagoons, Port Orly, Champagne Beach
The following video will highlight how to make the most out of a day at Espiritu Santo island Vanuatu.
We highly recommend that you hire a car for the day trip. You can also hire a local driver but driving around Santo Island is so easy and there is only one main road so it was great to explore at our own pace.
Drive all the way to the North of Santo Island and make your first stop at the beautiful Port Orly Beach.
Next head back and stop at Lonnoc and the very popular Champagne Beach on Santo Island.
Lastly, check out three of the most beautiful blue holes in Santo Island: Matevulu Blue Hole, Riri Blue Hole and Nanda (or Jackie’s) Blue Hole.
Make sure to have a fair bit of cash on you as you will need to pay entrance fees to visit the beaches as well as the blue holes.
We hope you enjoyed our video on what to do on Santo Island in one day.

Relax and catch all of the sun's rays at Port Olry beach! The sand here is powdery white and the water is a crazy crystal blue. We were lucky enough to see a wild sea turtle. Free entry to the beaches. Port Olry is about a 1hr drive from Luganville Town. You can hire a taxi driver for the whole day for 8000 Vatu.

The Republic of Vanuatu lies in the South Pacific Ocean, just a short flight from Australia and New Zealand.
Most visitors to Vanuatu arrive at the nation’s capital, Port Vila, situated on the main island of Efate. Vila, as it’s affectionately known, sits at the edge of a magnificent natural harbor filled with corals and sea life.
Like many South Pacific ports, Vila is wonderfully relaxed, so leave your designer gear at home, pull on some flip flops and slide into island time.
Just a ten-minute drive from port Vila, is Ekasup Cultural Village, where proud villagers are waiting to share their centuries-old customs, crafts, music and stories.
From Vila, take a 50-minute flight to Espiritu Santo. At the island’s sleepy capital Luganville, stock up on supplies at the markets, before venturing off to explore the island’s natural wonders.
After exploring mainland Santo, visit the islands off its southern coast, such as Aore Island, Bokissa Island and Malo Island.
Just a 45-minute flight south from Port Vila, Tanna Island is fringed with beaches ranging from pure white to black volcanic sands. Many of the hillside villages on Tanna remain largely unaffected by the trappings of the modern world. Feel the earth shake on Mt. Yasur, one of the world’s most active and accessible volcanoes.
After experiencing the warmth and generosity of Vanuatu’s people, it’s easy to feel that Vanuatu could be one of richest places on earth.

Ratua Private Island is a stunning island located 45 min (by speedboat) away from Espiritu Santo Island in Vanuatu.
We stayed at Ratua Island Resort & Spa for 3 nights. The island is private for Ratua guest and the whole experience is totally lux and special. You can enjoy various activities such as canoeing to Malo Blue Lagoon, horse riding/swimming, snorkelling and so much more! The water around the island is so clear that you can see the fish without even needing to go snorkelling.
We TOTALLY LOVED our stay and highly recommend Ratua Island Resort & Spa if you are after a luxurious little holiday :)

Unique, amazing, exciting...These are just some of the words used to describe Port Vila's latest attraction.
During this amazing journey, you will experience the wonderful underwater sensation without even getting your hair wet. You will see beautiful coral, amazing fish, in their own natural environment.
This will take you beyond snorkeling and giving you a full 20 minutes of time on the sea floor viewing the reef and fish and best of all it requires no experience of lengthy training sessions. Unlike scuba diving or snorkeling, our underwater walk is suitable for swimmers and non swimmers alike.
After your short boat ride to the dive platform our PADI qualified instructors will provide brief introduction and instructions about the amazing helmet dive equipment and in no time you will be walking on the sea floor.
You will be assisted and supported by two PADI Dive Instructors for the duration of the tour, walking along the ocean floor you will be 3-4 meters under the water's surface.

Luganville Espiritu Santo Vanuatu 4K
english/ deutsch:
Luganville is the second largest city of the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu. We had the opportunity on our cruise with the Sun Princess for a day to get to know this area in the South Sea. We bathed in the Blue Hole Matevulu, felt the South Sea feeling on the beachfront near Luganville and snorkeled a sunken helicopter wreck from World War II. Before leaving we visited the many souvenir shops and a small local cafe, a successful day, as so often in the South Seas with little sun.

Vanuatu officially the Republic of Vanuatu is an Oceanian island nation located in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago, which is of volcanic origin, is some 1,750 kilometres east of northern Australia, 500 kilometres northeast of New Caledonia, west of Fiji, and southeast of the Solomon Islands, near New Guinea.
Vanuatu was first inhabited by Melanesian people. The first Europeans to visit the islands were a Spanish expedition led by Portuguese navigator Fernandes de Queirós, who arrived in Espiritu Santo in 1605; he claimed the archipelago for Spain and named it Espiritu Santo (Spanish for Holy Spirit). In the 1880s, France and the United Kingdom claimed parts of the country, and in 1906 they agreed on a framework for jointly managing the archipelago as the New Hebrides through a British–French Condominium. An independence movement arose in the 1970s, and the Republic of Vanuatu was founded in 1980.

Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu, August 2014
We spent 12 wonderful days on Espiritu Santo, the largest island in the Vanuatu archipelago. Diving, hiking, caving, canyoning, kayaking and snorkelling are just some of the activities available in this South Pacific gem. Impressive as its natural attractions may be, it's the charming, relaxed Ni-Vanuatu who make it such a great place to visit.
