Its hotel sits at an elevation of 2,880 m above sea level, and the highest lift reaches 3,310 m . The lowest lift loads at 2,548 m , yielding a vertical drop of 762 m . Ski Portillo has 35 named runs and 14 lifts.     The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1966 were held in South America from 4–14 August at Portillo, Chile.To this day, it remains the only alpine world championships contested in the southern hemisphere. It took place well out of the established season, nearly five months before the first World Cup season, which began in early January 1967. Assignment did happen at the FIS-Congress at Athens in May 1963, but Germany , Switzerland and Austria did vote against.

    Chile Route 60 is a main road in the Valparaíso Region of Chile that extends from Valparaíso to Paso Los Libertadores. It continues into Argentina as National Route 7, toward Mendoza. The Route 60 is made up of two separate stretches of road. One goes from the port of Valparaíso to the junction with Chile Route 5 at La Calera. The other stretch extends from Route 5 at Llaillay to the border with Argentina. The actual border crossing is in the 3 km long Cristo Redentor tunnel. The route roughly parallels the course of the Aconcagua River.
