Noto (Sicily) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Noto in Sicily.
Noto is a charming town with around twenty thousand inhabitants and is one of the most beautiful enclosed Baroque towns in Sicily. However, many of Noto’s historic buildings were neglected for many years and are thus in somewhat less than perfect condition. The Catedrale Di San Nicolò also fell into disrepair as a result of continued neglect and this caused both the dome and part of the roof to collapse in 1996 since when much has been done to repair the church. An indication of the wealth of Noto’s former upper classes still exists today and the Palazzo Nicolaci Villadorata is one of the town’s most prominent buildings. In spite of its wondersul architecture today Noto leaves a rather sleepy and almost unreal impression on its visitors. Yet perhaps it is the romantic atmosphere caused by its slow decay that makes this Baroque Sicilian jewel so intriguing.

Mondello Beach Palermo in Sicily Italy MSC Meraviglia
Mondello is a small borough of the city of Palermo in the autonomous region of Sicily in Southern Italy.
Its beach lies between two cliffs called Mount Gallo and Mount Pellegrino. The town was originally a small fishing village situated on marshland, but at the end of the 19th century it grew into a favourite tourist destination. The numerous Liberty style villas on the seafront promenade made it one of the gems of Art Nouveau in Europe.
Mondello is characterized by a sandy bay of tropical colors that binds the two promontories, called Monte Gallo and Mount Pellegrino, with a coastline of white sand that nowadays is little more than 1.5 kilometers long. The landscape is influenced by the Natural Reserve of Capo Gallo and the reserve of Monte Pellegrino. Today the area is famous for its beach, which is one of the most coveted shores of Italy, for its many Art Nouveau villas, which characterize the architecture of the place, making it an important landmark in the history of international modernism.
We were here as part of a shore excursion, sailing on board the MSC Meraviglia, to visit Santa Rosalia Grotto and Mondello!

We sail on the MSC Meraviglia, the flagship of the MSC fleet! When launched in July 2017, the MSC Merviglia (at 172,000 GT) was the fourth largest cruise ship in the world, only behind the 3 Oasis-class vessels owned by Royal Caribbean). Meraviglia, in Italain, connotes a feeling of wonder, astonishment and amazement. The ship has Galleria Meraviglia, a 300ft central promenande filled with boutiques, restaurants, and also used for entertainment. It comes with a 5,200 sq feet LED dome - an atmospheric digital sky that animates the Galleria Meraviglia with inspiring sunrises, sunsets, mosiacs, shows and starry night skies. On this 7N cruise out of Genoa, we sailed in the Yacht Club Royal Suite 15008. A truly luxurious experience! #MSCMeraviglia

MSC Cruises is a global cruise line that was founded in Italy, is registered in Switzerland, and has its headquarters in Geneva. MSC Cruises is the world's largest privately owned cruise company, employing 16,300 people worldwide and having offices in 45 countries as of July 2014.[1] MSC Cruises (Italian: MSC Crociere S.p.A.) is part of the Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), the world's second biggest container shipping operator.
It was founded in Naples, Italy as Lauro Lines (also known as Flotta Lauro) by Achille Lauro. The company entered the cruise business in the 1960s, operating two ships, the Angelina Lauro and MS Achille Lauro. The Angelina Lauro burnt in the port of St. Thomas in 1979 and the Achille Lauro was hijacked by members of the Palestine Liberation Front in 1985. In 1989, Mediterranean Shipping Company bought Flotta Lauro and renamed it StarLauro Cruises.[2] In 1994, the Achille Laurocaught fire and sank. In 1995, the company name was changed to MSC Cruises.[2]
MSC Cruises is the fourth largest cruise company in the world, after Carnival Corporation & plc, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Norwegian Cruise Linewith a 5.2% share of all passengers carried in 2015.[3]
In 2014 MSC Cruises announced that the four Lirica class ships will undergo renovation under the Renaissance Programme.[4]
In 2015, MSC Cruises had four new ships on order from STX France and Fincantieri, with options for three more. The first two ships are due to be delivered in May 2017 (MSC Meraviglia) and November 2017 (MSC Seaside). There are four more diesel-powered ships on order for delivery in 2020s.[citation needed]
In September 2016, MSC Cruises announced children-oriented attractions and activities together with LEGO, Chicco, DOREBRO sports program, and with Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco. [5]
