ABOUT THE PROGRAMME:
In the 2015/16 season DEKOR Chamber Choir under the direction of guest conductor Sebastjan Vrhovnik will implement the new vocal instrumental project entitled BACH's PÄRTiture - rugged Baroque motets combined with minimalistic sound of Arvo Pärt - will be presented in various places around Slovenia. They will bring together internationally renowned instrumentalist of Baroque music Domen Marincic on violone (bass string instrument for the implementation of Renaissance and Baroque music), and Tomaž Sevšek Šramel on the positive organ and organ (Trieste, Ljubljana) and the renowned guest pianist and organist of many Slovenian choirs, Tilen Bajec (Prevalje). The central composition of this program (J. S. Bach: Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227) will be also performed in November 2016, where the group will participate as the demonstration choir at the 1st National Competition Matej Hubad for Slovenian conductors, entitled Sound of my hands.
The title BACH's PÄRTiture highlights the main authors of the compositions of this year's concert program. In the foreground is the contrast between the rugged Baroque motets of (mostly) Bach's family and minimalistic sound of the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Rich baroque harmonies meet its opposite in internalized, meditative atmospheric music of the 21st century, so the program offers a unique insight into the creation of sacred music in different musical periods. The creation theme of the first project with Dani Juris now continues thinking about the world and the holy, excited exclamation of joy mingled with tranquility and peace.

SUMMARY
=======
World War II in the Slovene Lands started in April 1941 and lasted until May 1945. Slovenia was in a unique situation during World War II in Europe, only Greece shared its experience of being trisected, however, Slovenia was the only region that experienced a further step — absorption and annexation into neighboring Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Hungary. The Slovene-settled territory was divided largely between Nazi Germany and the Kingdom of Italy, with smaller territories occupied by Hungary, and the Independent State of Croatia.

Lyrics:
Nekoč, učasih, pred davnimi časi,
živel je mali deček, v mali vasi.
Dolgi svetli lasi so mu čez ramena rastli,
zato so starši vpisali ga v glasbeno šolo.
Tam so me naučili peti in igrat ful instrumentov,
nihče ne more mi tega vzet..

World War II in Yugoslavia
Military operations in World War II on the territory of Yugoslavia started on 6 April 1941, when the kingdom was swiftly conquered by Axis forces and partitioned between Germany, Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria and client regimes. Subsequently, a guerrilla liberation war was fought against the Axis occupying forces and their locally established puppet regimes, including the Independent State of Croatia and the Government of National Salvation in Serbia, by the Communist-led republican Yugoslav Partisans. Simultaneously, a multi-side civil war was waged between the Partisans, the Serbian royalist Chetnik movement, Croatian nationalist Ustaše and Home Guard, as well as Slovene Home Guard troops.
Both the Yugoslav Partisans and the Chetnik movement initially resisted the occupation. However, after 1941, Chetniks extensively and systematically collaborated with the Italian occupation forces until the Italian capitulation, and thereon also with German and Ustaše forces. The Axis mounted a series of offensives intended to destroy the Partisans, coming close to doing so in winter and spring of 1943. Despite the setbacks, the Partisans remained a credible fighting force, gaining recognition from the Western Allies and laying the foundations for the post-war Yugoslav state. With support in logistics and air power from the Western Allies, and Soviet ground troops in the Belgrade Offensive, the Partisans eventually gained control of the entire country and of border regions of Italy and Austria.
