The Palace of Venaria is a former royal residence and gardens located in Venaria Reale, near Turin in the Metropolitan City of Turin of the Piedmont region in northern Italy. It is one of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy, included in the UNESCO Heritage List in 1997. It received 1,012,033 visitors in 2016. The Palace was designed and built from 1675 by Amedeo di Castellamonte, commissioned by duke Charles Emmanuel II, who needed a base for his hunting expeditions in the heathy hill country north of Turin. The name itself derives from Latin, Venatio Regia meaning Royal Hunt.

It has been so named since the 16th century, but was previously called the Lago di San Giulio, after Saint Julius , the patron saint of the region. Its southern end is about 35 kilometres by rail, to the northwest of Novara on the main Turin-Milan line, while its north end is about 6 kilometres by rail south of the Gravellona-Toce railway station, halfway between Ornavasso and Omegna. Its scenery is characteristically Italian, while the San Giulio island has some very picturesque buildings, and takes its name from the local saint, who lived in the 4th century. Vetriolo Terme (1.500) è una piccola frazione non lontana da Levico Terme; a pochi minuti d’auto da Vetriolo si raggiunge la cima Panarotta (2.002) porta occidentale del Lagorai, che ti accoglie con le sue valli, le montagne, i laghetti alpini, le baite, la natura. E’ possibile camminare per chilometri grazie alle numerose passeggiate ed ai sentieri per il trekking che vi condurranno in alta quota.

Italy , Pisterzo , Maenza , Rocca Gorga , Priverno

Coming in from Rome , the last few miles before entering Priverno , my hometown we passed Pisterzo on the left ( which I videod later from the top) and Maenza and Rocca Gorga on the right . Priverno though is the biggest of the small towns surrounding it . Priverno has 15,000 inhabitants where we still have a small condo there .
