RV Camping in Stone Mountain State Park NC, Roaring Gap and Elkin
In this RV camping trip, we travel to Stone Mountain State Park NC near Roaring Gap and Elkin. The campground was absolutely amazing! It had large, paved parking pads and no shortage of deer wandering through the park. One thing to note was that the cell service was non existent in the park and had to drive about 15 min. away to get service. Our first day there was pretty much a wash out as it rained most of the day. We decided to drive to the town of Elkin, which was a quaint, little old town. It was about 30 from our campground. We were able to get out and hike a little bit that evening to see some of North Carolina's beautiful water falls. The next day, we hiked to the top of Stone Mountain and it was about a 2 mile hike. It was absolutely beautiful! We had a picnic at the top and enjoyed the view. In our upcoming video, we will show more of the campground and our trip to Blowing Rock, North Carolina.
We highly recommend the RV Camping at Stone Mountain State Park NC and we will certainly plan to return at some point for another stay!

Tory's Den and Falls at Hanging Rock State Park, North Carolina
In this video I take you out to a north-western part of Hanging Rock State Park, located near Danbury, in Stokes County, North Carolina. We are at the Tory's Den Access. The last time I was here was way back in 2012, so it was great to see this area of the park again. From the parking lot, we take a short hike down an easy trail to Tory's Falls and then continue on to Tory's Den. Tory's Falls is a very unique waterfall. Unfortunately this creek tends to run shallow in the summer months. At times of high water flow, it's really spectacular. Tory's Den is a small cave in a rock structure just downhill from the falls. The area gets its name because local Tories, colonists who wanted to remain loyal to Britain, use to camp in and around this area when their properties were confiscated by local Whigs, those in favor of independence. At the end of the video you can pause some slides showing some historical accounts of the area. Thanks for watching!
