Visiting the Montauk Point Lighthouse and Museum in Montauk Point, NY 06/20/2013

This is the Montauk Point Lighthouse and Museum located in Montauk Point, NY.
Admission is $9.00 for Adults, $8.00 for Seniors and $4.00 for Children 12 and Under. Parking costs $8.00 for Cars Between 8:00am-4:00pm Everyday. Go to for more information. The Lighthouse was completed on November 5, 1796 and is the oldest Lighthouse in the State of New York and the 4th oldest Lighthouse in the United States. The Tower is 110' 6 tall and there are 137 iron steps to the top of the tower. Note that NO Cell Phones are allowed on by order of the U.S. Coast Guard. While at the top of the tower, Connecticut, Fishers Island and Block Island, Rhode Island can be visible. If the world was flat, Portugal would also be visible. The steps climbing this tower are very steep, my camera was never zoomed in while climbing the stairs. In addition, climbing down the first ladder of the tower, you have to walk down backwards towards the steps just like the Staff Member asked me to do while i was going down the ladder. It's easier and safer to walk down the ladder that way instead of walking down foward. I apologize for my fingers sometimes getting in the way of my camera lens during the climbs up and down the tower, i had to switch hands my camera from time to time while i carefully walked my way down the steps. Cameras do not do the justice on how steep these steps are. During my experience, i had a great time visiting the Lighthouse and Museum.
