The port city of Valencia lies on Spain’s southeastern coast, where the Turia River meets the Mediterranean Sea. It’s known for its City of Arts and Sciences, with futuristic structures including a planetarium, an oceanarium, and an interactive museum.
Valencia also has several beaches, including some within nearby Albufera Park, a wetlands reserve with a lake and walking trails.

Sagunto is a town in Eastern Spain, in the modern fertile comarca of Camp de Morvedre in the province of Valencia. It is located c. 30 km north of Valencia, close to the Costa del Azahar on the Mediterranean Sea. It is best known for the remains of the ancient Iberian and Roman city of Saguntum, which played a significant part in the Second Punic War between the Carthaginians (under Hannibal) and the Romans.

Albufera derives from the Arabic word small sea.
Valencia’s Albufera region is one of the largest and most valuable coastal wetlands to the Valencian community. In 1986 it was declared a Natural Park. Albufera plays an extremely important role towards the environment as many species nearing extinction habitat its lands, such as the toothed carp fish.
The natural biodiversity of the nature reserve allows a great variety of flora and fauna to thrive and be observed year-round. Though once a saltwater lagoon, dilution due to irrigation and canals draining into the estuary and the sand bars increasing in size had converted it to freshwater by the seventeenth century.
